Jack dialed for his contact. For a few minutes, he remained engaged in a heavy conversation, filled with hushed tones and expletives. Finally, he sat down at the bench where I was waiting for him. He looked at me with serious eyes.

“You don’t talk until we get to Frankfurt. Your new ID says that you’re Spanish so take care not to give yourself away.”

I was shocked to hear this, and incredibly annoyed that he assumed I would do as he said.Well, I did always say I wanted a man who was really in charge…

Despite my father being extremely wealthy, everything he did just felt fake. Even when people listened to him, I couldn’t help but feel that he wasn’t really commanding them, his money was. Jack was different.

“How am I going to tell you what I need?” I asked, realizing that what I asked could be provocative, so I gave him my most seductive look.

“Come on,” he said. “We don’t have much time between getting your documentation and the flight.”

I rolled my eyes, then mimed placing a lock and key over my lips with a smooth gesture. Jack smiled, then took me to the food court.

“Really, the food court?”

Jack gave me a harsh look and just said, “Wait here.”

Soon he came back and told me to follow him. We made our way into the back of a Greek restaurant, where a thin curly-haired man in a hairnet greeted us.

He spoke in a foreign language to Jack, and, to my surprise, Jack began to engage in conversation as if he had been speaking that language from birth. The look of surprise I must have had prompted Jack to grin wide. Then he put his finger over his lips to signal my silence. The young man prompted me to sit down, and I started to smile.

“Don’t smile,” Jack said. He nodded to the young man, who took my picture as I sat with the deadest face I could muster.

After that, the young man left, and Jack said, “Good on you for not smiling, we can continue work on your ability to blend in.”

I rolled my eyes, but then Jack took my hand and kissed it. “I’d rather see you with that smile,” he said. “Fake passports are only temporary, and your smile deserves to live forever.”

I blushed, a little turned on by his suave words.

When the young man came back with my fake IDs, he gave us a look like he was interrupting something. Jack and I laughed, and the young man awkwardly nodded at us.

I checked my ID to see what it said. My birth date was off by a few years, so I was just that much older, and my thoughts turned towards our age difference. I motioned for Jack and pointed at my birthday.

“What?”

I signaled that I was younger, and motioned with a 2.

“Well, you’re 21 on this ID, so you can do whatever you might need to on US soil. The rest of the world doesn’t care that you’re only nineteen,” he said.

My heart soared. I could feel the butterflies in my stomach at his admission: he didn’t care how old I was. I wanted to ask him his age, but left that for another time.

God, was he sexy.

Jack led me out through another exit than where we’d entered, which led to another department store. We ended up in the storage room and I couldn’t help but think of the first time I was with Jack, trapped within a destroyed building.

“How much time do we have?” I asked him. All I could think of was having him handle me.

“I told you not to talk!”

“There’s no here,” I protested.

Jack looked around, and we made eye contact. As if he read my mind, he kissed me, wrapping his strong arms around me. I felt warm and safe when I was with him. His hands reached parts of my body that were calling his name.

There was nothing but the two of us in that moment.
