“Really?”

“Yeah. I like it. I like it better because it suits you.”

I melt at her words.

“Thank you, darling. If you want to keep calling me Lily, I don’t mind, though.”

She shakes her head. “Nope. Kaylee.”

While I’d have been fine with whatever she chose, it feels to have her use my real name. It’s the only link I have to who I was.

Although I’m unsure if I want to return to that life, it's comforting to know that it isn't lost.

“Something smells amazing.” Logan walks into the kitchen.

I’m taken unaware when he wraps his arms around my waist and kisses my cheek.

“Your cooking smells good, but I bet something tastes better.”

My face turns a bright shade of pink, and my mind strays away from cooking for a good minute. I playfully elbow him.

“If you don’t leave me, I might burn these eggs.”

He shrugs. “I don’t care.”

And to show that hereally doesn’t,Logan flips me around, yanks me away from the stove, and plants a full-mouth kiss on my lips.

“Whatttt?!” Madison says, shocked. “Why are you kissing Kaylee?”

“See?” I smack Logan on the chest, returning to the eggs and shaking my eggs when I see that they are half-burnt.

Logan makes a noise of nonchalance.

“Madison, pumpkin. You know you said you wouldn’t mind if Kaylee and I dated?”

I whip around. “When?”

He grins. “I overheard the conversation she had with you. The day you two were dealing with the branches. It was an insightful conversation, so thank you.”

I shake my head at the same time Madison rolls her eyes.

“Kaylee and I, we like each other,” Logan says. “And people who like each other tend to kiss often. You saw us kiss yesterday, didn’t you?”

Madison scratches her hair.

“Yeah, but—but… ew,” she makes a face. “You can date her, but don’t kiss in front of me. Get a room.”

And then she hurries out of the kitchen. Logan and I look at each other for several seconds before laughing.

“Is something wrong?” I ask when Logan comes to my room in the evening.

When he says nothing, I get up from the bed and walk up to him, only to be snatched into a tight bear hug. He kisses my hair.

“Other than I’ve missed you, and I want to spend every moment possible seeing your face and kissing you?”

I giggle like a schoolgirl.

“I’m sure I saw you an hour ago when we had dinner. But I like it… I like that you’ve missed me.”
