“Hey,” he murmured, thumbs brushing away the moisture that threatened to spill over my lashes. “We’ll handle whatever comes. Your brother will be safe and free. I promised you I would take care of him and I always, alwayskeep my promises.”

I nodded as I looked into his eyes. “And what about Captain Monroe and the police?”

“Corruption is just another lock to pick, Sofia.” He stood up, ushering me so that I was facing away from him, his fingers finding the tense knots in my shoulders and pressing down. “We just need the right keys.”

As his hands worked my flesh, a warmth unconnected to the soothing massage began to spread through me. His touch, always so full of intent, sent ripples of desire straight to my core.

“Keys? More like a sledgehammer,” I muttered, tilting my head to grant him better access.

“Sof, have some patience,” he whispered, his breath hot on my neck. “Impatience leads to mistakes, and we can’t afford those.”

My hand dropped to my side as I leaned into Teo’s touch. His words were meant to be reassuring, but all they did was stoke the fire of my impatience. I wanted to find Sam and get this over with already. But Teo was right, we couldn’t rush this. The stakes were too high.

“But Sam...” I started to argue, only to gasp when Teo’s hands slid down along my arms, pulling me up from the sofa and in one fluid movement guiding me onto his lap.

I could feel the hard press of him against me, and suddenly the world narrowed down to just this point of contact between us. I could feel every inch of him, every contour and curve as if they were etched into my skin.

Teo’s arms wrapped around me, holding me steady as he continued his words of caution. “Sam needs us to be clear-headed.” His voice was low, a rumble that vibrated through me as his fingers traced circles on my thigh, inching closer and closer to where I wanted him most.

I tried to focus on what he was saying, but it was impossible with his touch sending jolts of electricity through my body. My hips moved against his hand of their own accord, begging for more.

“Teo, I...” My voice trailed off as his hand slipped under my waistband and found its way between my legs. There was no need for words anymore as his fingers expertly teased and touched me, his fingertips slowly making their way down to my pussy.

“Shh,” he soothed. “Just relax for me, Sofia.”

Relax? How could I relax when all I wanted was to feel him inside me? But Teo knew exactly what he was doing, and with each stroke of his fingers. He traced circles around my clit until I was moaning and practically shivering under his touch.

“Relax?” I scoffed, my hips moving against his hand in a desperate rhythm. “That’s not what I want.”

Without warning, his other arm wrapped around me, crossed over my chest, his hand wrapped around my neck as he continued to use his hand on me.

He laughed, pressing a finger inside of me, then another, his thumb never letting up off my clit. “Is this what you want, Sof?”

“Fuck,” I managed to whimper.

Each thrust of his fingers pushed me closer and closer to the brink, and I could feel my body tightening, coiling around the undiluted pleasure.

“Tell me then,” he challenged, even as his fingers spread me open and slid into me with deliberate strokes. “Tell me what you want.”

I couldn’t form coherent words anymore as pleasure consumed every inch of my being. All I could do was plead with him. “Fuck me,” I whispered desperately, my voice barely audible over the sound of my own moans.

And that’s exactly what he did. With each movement of his hand, Teo drove me closer to ecstasy, fucking me harder, faster with his fingers, his grip around my neck tightening as he raked his teeth over the side of my neck. “You’re so fucking beautiful,” hesaid into my ear. “Watching you come is my favorite thing in the world.”

“I need your cock,” I heard myself say.

He laughed into my ear. “No. Come for me, Sofia,” Teo commanded, and his words tipped me over, my orgasm shattering through me with the force of a thunderclap.

I clung to him, riding out the waves until they ebbed into tremors, leaving me spent in his arms. My thoughts were scattered, but beneath them lay a single thread of clarity—this man knew every part of me, and he wielded that knowledge like a weapon.

“Better?” Teo asked, a hint of smug satisfaction in his tone.

“Temporarily,” I admitted, feeling the afterglow dull the sharp edges of my anxiety.

“Then let’s use this temporary peace to think,” he suggested, his fingers still idly playing along my skin. “We’ll unravel this mess, starting with your phone and ending with the Viper.”

“Unraveling” felt like too gentle a word for the chaos my father had woven into our lives. Yet as I rested there, with Teo’s steady heartbeat beneath my ear, I couldn’t shake the sense that every truth we uncovered would bring us one step closer to a precipice—one neither of us might be prepared to face.

I sighed. As long as Sam was alive, I guess I couldn’t worry about anything else.
