I frown. I was actually on my way to the store to pick up a bottle of wine. It’s been a long day, and my couch and slippers are calling my name. You’d think I would learn my lesson and not leave all the housework until my day off to tackle, but no. I put it off and then have a disaster of a day. Every. Single. Time.

“I’m just grabbing something. Why? Have you got a last minute job for me?”

There’s a pause. I don’t know why, but it feels... ominous?

“Maurice?”

“Ah, yeah. Look it’s probably nothing to worry about, but I’m just going to get William to fly over and check on you. I want you to head straight home, and I’ll have whatever you need delivered OK?”

OK, weird. There is definitely something up. “What is it?”

He sighs. “I don’t want to alarm you, but someone came looking for you. He’s not a client, but he wants to book you. Sofia didn’t think it was a good idea and when she turned him down he got... weird.”

My heart beats a little faster and I pause on the sidewalk. Other folks are walking past. It’s dark, but it’s not late. Stores are still open. I still get the sense someone is watching me.

Silly. It’s just my imagination of course.

“What monster?”

“Huh?”

“What type of monster was he? The one who came looking for me?” My senses are really prickling now. I should turn back, but the liquor store is literally meters away. Could it be...?

“Not a good idea, Tamsin.” Maurice’s tone is warning. He knows me too well.

“Come on, Maurice. Forewarned is forearmed.”

He growls. “A basilisk is not a monster you want to mess with.”

I freeze as an immaculately dressed figure rounds the corner in front of me, stepping between me and the door of the liquor store. The dark black of his glasses is impenetrable, but I know he’s staring at me. His lips curve into a dangerous smile. “Hello, Tamsin.”

“Tamsin? You there?” I’m still holding my phone to my ear, staring at Erserro.

“How did you find me?”

His smile widens. “I could taste you in the air, flower. And I’m not done tasting you. Not even close.”

My pussy flutters at this, though I should be used to monsters saying all sorts of filthy things to me by now. Somehow the intent in his wicked smile makes the words all the more real.

“Tamsin! Stay where you are and someone will come find you.” I lift the phone from my ear and stare down at the screen. I don’t want Monstrous Deals security to find me. Not yet.

Erserro’s voice is low and seductive. He steps closer. “You don’t want to be rescued. Tell him you’re coming with me.”

The words spill from my lips before I can call them back. Full of snark and truth that I’d usually never let loose. “Don’t tell me what I want or don’t want.”

I expect him to frown. To loom over me and tell me he’ll do what he wants.

Instead, Erserro throws his head back and laughs. “Oh, flower, you have thorns. And I think it makes you even prettier.”

Yep. My pussy is definitely quivering; I can’t help returning his smile. “Are you going to pay me, thorns and all?” I look up at him and my own reflection looks back at me from his dark glasses. Pretty and rounded and looking absolutely stunning. Wow.

Erserro grows serious again. “I will do whatever it takes to have you. Name your price. Money is nothing to me.”

I smile. “Then I think we’re going to get along well. People have told me I have expensive taste.”

His lifted brow raises over the rim of his glasses. “Do you now? Then you shouldn’t settle for anything less than the best.”

Shaking my head, I bring the phone back to my ear. “I’m going to take the booking.”
