“You’re not old.” I raise a brow. “You're like, what, thirty?”

“Ha-ha,” he says with a blank face before poking me in the side. “So funny.” He starts to tickle me, and I’m instantly laughing.

“Stop!” I gasp out through a laugh. “I’m gonna pee myself if you don’t.”

“Lilly, that’s just gross. Don’t do that.” But the asshole doesn’t stop.

“What the fuck is going on?” a deep, gruff voice that I know all too well sounds from the doorway of our dorm.

Bishop’s hands leave me like he was caught stealing from the cookie jar and he takes a huge step back. My eyes flick up to Toby standing in the doorway. His eyes are narrowed, glaring at the both of us, fists clenched at his side. Ugh, why does he have to be so damn good looking that it hurts? With his brown eyes and matching hair. And all those tattoos. I’m a sucker for tattoos.

“Well, my brother was flirting with your sister. So, thanks for saving me,” Bianca throws out and I really want to slap a hand over my best friend's mouth right now.

“We were not flirting.” I shoot a glare her way.

“Looked like it to me.” She sends me a teasing grin. I know she’s messing with me, but Toby doesn’t seem to like the joke.

“What the fuck?” He glares daggers at his best friend.

“Oh, relax,” Bishop chuckles, running a hand through his messy black hair. “I was just tickling her.”

“Don’t tickle my sister, man. It’s fucking weird.” Calling me his sister is like a punch to the gut, and a reminder that he really doesn’t feel the same way about me that I do for him. He turns his attention to me. “What are you doing here?” Toby asks me, nostrils flaring.

Is he for real right now? “I live here now.” I blink at him, not sure why he’s so pissed.

His eyes widen slightly. “Here? As in this dorm or this room?”

“Both....” My brows furrow. “So what?”

“Fucking hell,” he sighs, running a hand down his face.

“What? What am I missing?” I look between him and Bishop.

He steps out of the way and points to the door across the hall. “That’s Bishop’s room.”

“Oh.” I look over at Bishop. “So, we’re neighbors?” I can’t help but smile.

“Yup. And so is Toby.” He grins, shooting his best friend a shit eating grin. “We’re rooming together again this year.”

My eyes snap back over to Toby. “Really?”

His jaw clenches. “Yup. So, if you could keep the sex with your boyfriend, Joan, down, that would be wonderful.”

“His name is Jonas,” I respond, not correcting him on the fact that Jonas isn’t my boyfriend anymore.

“Don’t care,” he huffs. He looks to Bishop asking, “Do you need me anymore, or did you get all B’s stuff?”

“What?” My brows furrow. “You came to help Bee move in? What about me?”

“Didn’t know you were moving in today.” He shrugs his shoulders. That's a lie. I know Theo told him.

“Nice,” I huff out a laugh, shaking my head, about done with his bullshit today. “You're an asshole, you know that?” I slip past him and head toward the elevator to go back down and wait for our parents, trying not to be a baby and cry, but damn, when he’s like this, it really hurts.

“I’m the asshole?” Toby follows after me. “What did I do?”

I whip around, getting in his face. “It’s what you haven’t done.” I shake my head. “You changed, Toby. And not for the better. I don’t know who you’ve become, but it’s not the boy I’ve known most of my life. Whoever this is—” I wave my hand up and down at him, “—is an asshole. And you’ve been one for years now.”

I leave him gaping at me as I step into the elevator. I stare at him, trying not to show how much this new version of him hurts me, as the doors close.
