“This is so exciting,” Bianca squeals, vibrating with energy as we weave our way through the crowd.

“I forgot how excited hockey fans get on game days,” I murmur, holding my arms close to my body as I try to avoid touching as many people as I can.

“There’s more people who come to our football games,” Ryan huffs. I shoot him a grin over my shoulder, and he rolls his eyes. “Okay, fine, it’s about the same.”

“You jocks and your rivalries. You attend the same school. Show some spirit.” I give him some jazz hands.

He snorts a laugh. “You're too much sometimes.”

“Awe, thanks.” We stop with the crowd, and I bat my eyelashes up at him.

“You’re sure you two aren't dating?” Bianca asks, raising a brow as she looks at the both of us.

“No,” we say at the same time. I look at Ryan, and we laugh.

“Could have fooled me,” she says with a grin. “You’re cute together.”

“Sorry, Bee, but we’re too hung up on other people. We’re meant to be besties.”

She narrows her eyes at Ryan. “I already have to fight my brother for her, don’t make me fight you too.”

Ryan raises his hands in surrender. “I’d never dream of taking your girl away from you.”

“You know, being fought over is kind of a turn on,” I sing-song, and we all laugh.

The sea of people starts moving again, and we follow along. It feels like forever before we finally make it to the arena seats. “I don’t like to toss around my privilege, but sometimes having all your parents work for the school comes in handy.” I laugh as we find our VIP seating. We’re sitting right next to the penalty box, where all the best action happens, as Bennett likes to say. Best seats in the house to see everything up close and personal.

My parents and Bennett are already seated when we get there. “Hey,” I greet my mom. “Where's the twins?”

It’s Brody who answers. “They were being a nightmare so your grandparents have them for the night.”

“They were not.” Mom slaps his arms.

Brody gives her a blank look. “The little shits clogged every toilet in the house because they wanted to see if you could flush sand down them.”

My brows raise. “What? Who even thinks to try that?” I ask laughing as I take a seat next to Mom.

She lets out a heavy sigh. “I have no idea. I love those boys with all my heart but, Lilly, I beg of you, please have all girls. You were an angel.”

“A sassy little one,” Chase adds, leaning forward so he can see me. “But I have to admit, you were pretty damn awesome.”

“Were?” I fake offense. “I still am.”

“Yeah, you are.” Chase chuckles. He looks over at Ryan. “Hey, Tucker.”

“Hey, Coach.” Ryan chuckles.

“Still not my daughter’s boyfriend?” Chase asks, narrowing his eyes as I roll mine.

“Nope. But, trust me, if I was ready for a girlfriend, she would be my first choice.” I’m not sure if he’s being serious or if he’s just messing with my dad, but Chase narrows his eyes anyways, and Brody growls.

“Oh, stop it, you two. Ryan is a nice guy. And he’s a good friend to Lilly. Leave him be.”

“I’m watching you, kid.” Brody glares at him.

“They’re really just big teddy bears.” I giggle at Ryan, and he grins.
