Not that I cared too much. I might give my sister a hard time, but I love the girl. She’s one of my best friends, too.

“The big deal is she just broke up with Jonas a few weeks ago, and she’s already agreeing to a date with some guy she met in the lunch line after being here for only a few days.”

We hang behind, slowly walking to the locker room so the other guys don’t hear us, Jonas included.

“Hey, I have an idea that could solve all your problems,” I chirp.

He looks at me with eager interest. “Really? What?”

Grabbing his shoulders, I give him a little shake. “Tell the girl how you fucking feel.”

His face drops. “You know I can’t,” he growls, shaking my hands off and walking toward the locker room.

“Then you can’t get pissed off if she dates other people.”

“Like fuck, I can’t,” he mutters.

The locker room is loud, the guys already stripping out of their gear. We go over to our lockers and do the same.

“Hey, Toby.” Toby turns to see Jonas standing nearby, towel wrapped around his waist. “Good practice.”

“Thanks,” Toby grunts, raising a brow.

“Look. I wanted to talk, you got a minute?”

“I guess.”

Jonas runs a hand through his wet hair. “I know you don’t really like me. I’m assuming it has to do with me dating Lilly, but I want you to know that we’re not together anymore. It was a mutual agreement. With us being a team and stuff, I want to make sure there's no bad blood between us.”

“You two are really over?” Toby’s brows furrow.

“Yeah.” Jonas nods.

“Why did you guys break up?”

Jonas shrugs his shoulders. “She broke up with me, but it was a good thing. We both realized that we were only meant to be friends.”

“Do you still love her?”

I roll my eyes. God, people see an overprotective brother, I see a man who's jealous as fuck.

“Ah, no.” Jonas chuckles. “As a best friend, sure, but I don’t think I ever loved her that way.”

“Why the hell not?” Toby snaps. Jonas’ eyes widen.

“Dude, chill.” I look around, seeing we’ve gained an audience.

Toby clears his throat. “Fine. Whatever. We’re cool.”

“Awesome.” He nods. “Well, see-ya.”

Jonas heads back over to his locker to get dressed.

“Toby, man, what the hell has gotten into you?”

He sighs, stripping down and heading for the shower. Thankfully, they’re fixed now. I hated walking home smelling like sweaty ass until we could shower at the dorm.

After we shower and get dressed, we head out to my Jeep. I don’t miss the group of girls who linger outside the rink. Normally, I’d stay and talk to a few, but Toby is in a shitty mood as he storms right past, jumping in the front seat of the Jeep.
