Lilly: Nope. It was just as much of a surprise to me as it was for you.

Wifey For Lifey: He was such an ass. I don’t think he likes Clay. I don’t know why. Clay is a sweetheart, funny, and sexy. And they’re on the same team. He’s my best friend and his childish behavior fucking sucked. He’s getting some colorful texts tonight, that’s for sure.

Wifey For Lifey: Anyways, you go have fun with that hottie and I’m going to a party with mine. Don’t worry, I won’t drink. I’ll be a good girl. No more online photos in my bra.

Guilt hits me. It’s my fault that happened in the first place. Thankfully, no one lingered on it too long, but now I can’t help but wonder if Katie is going to pull something like that again. It’s sad she’s willing to stoop as low as her mother.

As for Jonas, I have a feeling about why he showed up here. From the look on his face when he found out about the date, he was jealous. He even tossed popcorn at them when Clay cuddled with Bianca. Bianca kept looking beside her, glaring at Jonas.

Bishop was no help. He kept laughing. Like what the hell is with these guys tonight?

Lilly: Have fun and don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.

Wifey For Lifey: So, act like a nun, got it ;P

Lilly: Haha *Middle finger emoji* Bye, bitch!

Wifey For Lifey: Byeeeeeeee! Love you, bitch.

Grinning, I shake my head and slip my phone in my pocket. “Sorry about that. Bee and Clay are heading to a party. Just wanted to let them know where we were going.”

“Oh, did you wanna go too?” Ryan asks, stopping when we reach the parking lot.

“Nah, I like a good party as much as the next person, but so far, I haven’t had the best experience with SVU parties.” I grin and he grimaces.

“Right. Fuck, I can’t believe Katie did that.”

“You know her?” I ask as we continue walking to his car.

“Oh, yeah. She’s not just a puck bunny, she’s also a cheerleader. Well, she was one. Got kicked off the team last year because she dropped a girl. The girl fell and broke her ankle.”

“What? I hope she’s okay. But stuff like that isn’t uncommon in cheerleading.”

“True, but Katie did it on purpose.” He shakes his head. “That girl has a few screws loose.”

We get into his car and once we’re buckled up, I continue the conversation. “How did you know she did it on purpose?”

He licks his lips as we pull out of the parking lot. “My, ah, ex is on the cheerleading team. She overheard Katie telling the girl she dropped that if she flirted with the guy she likes again, she’s going to do worse.”

“Wow.” I blink in surprise. “She really is crazy. But knowing who her mom is, I’m not surprised at all.”

“You know about her mom?”

“Yeah.” I shift in my seat. “She did bad things to my family. I don’t really want to talk about it, though.”

“I’m sorry,” he whispers. “So, pancakes?” he says, offering a lighter subject.

“Pancakes.” I look over at him with a grin.

The diner is packed with people. It seems to be a popular spot on a Saturday night, but seeing how it’s in the middle of town, between a bar and the movies, it makes sense.

We order our pancakes, and I’m pleased that they end up being just as amazing as Ryan told me they were.

For the next hour, we talk, laugh, and get to know each other. Honestly, this is the best night I’ve had in a long time. This might not be who I wanted my first date with, but it’s better than I could have hoped for.

That is until Ryan’s body goes rigid. I follow his line of sight to see a group of girls walking in. And when the pretty blonde looks over, eyes locking with Ryan, I just know that this is the ex he was talking about.

They share this intense moment before a guy walks in behind the girls, wrapping his arm around the blonde’s shoulder.
