We scream and Bee brings the bat around, hitting the guy hard in the stomach. “Oh, fuck!” he grunts, curling in on himself as he crumbles to the ground.

Hysterical laughter sounds from the hallway as Toby steps into view. “Holy fuck, that was awesome. And I got it on video too. Fucking hell, man, I told you it was a bad idea.”

Bending over, I rip the mask off the guy’s face. “Bishop!” Bianca shouts. “What the fuck!”

“What the fuck, me?” he shouts. “What the fuck, you! You fucking hit me with a bat, you crazy shithead.”

“Well, why the hell are you banging on our door with a damn mask on?!”

“Dumb-ass here thought it would be fun to play a prank on you.” Toby grins, loving every second of this. Me? My heart is still racing like crazy. “He wanted to mess with you because he knows how scary movies get to you.” He directs the last part to Bianca.

“You can be the one to tell mom she’s not getting any grandkids from me.” Bishop groans.

“I hit you in the stomach.” She rolls her eyes.

“No, you didn’t. You hit me in the fucking nuts. I think one of my balls burst.”

I shouldn’t, because the man is in pain and you heard him—he thinks one of his balls exploded—but I can’t help the laughter that bubbles out of me.

Toby grins at me, and I grin back.

“Also, you numb nuts, that’s the wrong movie.”

“What?” Bishop rolls over to glare at Toby.

“You said ‘Wanna play a game?’ and that’s Saw, dumb ass. You're wearing a ghost face mask.”

“Isn’t that what he says?”

“No.” I giggle. “He asks ‘What’s your favorite scary movie?’”

“Who cares? My balls hurt!”

“Ahh, poor baby. Want me to call up one of the puck bunnies to come and ice them for you?” Bianca grins down at her brother as if she didn’t just attack him.

“I hate you,” he hisses.

“Nah, you love me.”

“Not right now, I don’t.”

“Come on, Lilly.” Toby holds out his hand. “Let’s get going.”

I look at his hand for a second before placing mine in his. We lock eyes for a moment before he helps me step over Bishop. “Ah... should we just leave him there?”

“He’ll be fine.” Toby waves it off.

“Like fuck, I will be! How the fuck am I supposed to defend you on the ice when I can’t even stand?”

“Oh, shit.” Toby's face goes serious. “Give me a second,” he says before bending down to help Bishop to his feet.

He wraps his arm around his back, holding him up. Bishop groans in pain as he straightens. “Give me that,” he growls, snatching the bat from his sister’s hand.

It’s that moment I remember, I almost forgot to grab my purse with my stuff in it. So I slip back into our room to grab it. Seconds later, I’m back in the hall where Toby left me.

“I really am sorry!” Bee calls after them as Toby helps Bishop hobble back over to their room.

“You can make it up to him by going down to the ice machine in the lobby and getting some ice for his balls.” Toby calls back.
