“And your protective big brother act is getting old.” She stands up and leans over to get in my face. “I can do what I want. Date who I want. And fuck who I please.”

“Lilly!” Ellie gasps.

“Nope!” Chase shouts. “La-la-la. I can’t hear you.”

“Dear god,” Brody groans.

“Come on, guys, let’s just sit down and have a nice meal,” my dad, the sweetest man of them all, suggests trying to de-escalate the situation.

And while all that happens, Lilly and I are locked in a heated stare down.

“What is going on?” Raiden asks.

“No idea. Adults are weird,” Isaiah adds.

“I’m not hungry anymore.” Lilly is the first to look away as she straightens up and leaves the table.

“Lilly,” Ellie starts, but Rain stops her.

I’m pissed, the idea of her fucking anyone is the only thing I took from what she said.

“Why do you have to be so mean?” Bennett sneers, snapping me out of my own mind. I look over at him to see him downright livid with me. “You don’t deserve to be her friend,” he states before taking off after Lilly.

“I’m so confused,” Chase mumbles.

“It’s okay, buddy. Don’t think too much about it. Your brain might explode.” Rain pats him on the head like a dog, and Chase flashes his teeth at her like one, making Rain laugh.

Adults really are weird.

“WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT, Munro?” Jax barks after he calls the end of practice. It was the worst practice I’ve had since I started playing hockey. My mind is somewhere else, or should I say, on someone else.

It’s been almost a week since Lilly ran out of the family supper. It’s the last time I saw her with the exception of glimpses of her coming and going from her room.

She’s back to being pissed at me, and I don’t blame her. Only thing is, I hate it. I wanted to mend our relationship, but I ended up fucking it up worse than before.

I shouldn’t have kissed her, even though it’s been on my mind, every second of every day. And I’ve shamefully jacked off more than once to the image of her grinding on my cock. I’m not proud of it, but fuck.

With each passing day that she doesn’t answer my texts and continues to avoid me, I grow more and more restless. I’ve been distracted in all my classes and now it’s affecting my game.

“You let every single fucking puck fly past you into that damn net.”

“Sorry, Coach,” I grind out. I’m not in a good mood, and I’m seconds away from losing it on a man who’s like a father figure to me.

“Two weeks, Munro, we have two weeks before our first game. If this shit happens again, Walker will be taking your spot. Do you understand?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Dude, what was that?” Bishop asks as I join him off the ice and head down to the locker room.

“Fuck off,” I mutter, not in the mood to talk to anyone right now.

“Seriously, man. You were shit.”

“I said, fuck off!” I snap shoving him and sending him into the wall with a loud thud.

He glares at me, wiping his sweaty hair away from his face. “Fuck you, man. I get it, you're pissed about whatever's going on between you and Lilly. But that doesn’t mean you get to take it out on me.”

I’m breathing heavily, chest heaving. The pent-up anger inside me is demanding to be set loose. It’s been a while since I’ve gotten to release any. I’ve been doing my damn best at keeping my cool and staying out of trouble, but if I don’t go to the club soon, like we’ve planned, I’m not sure when or how I’m going to snap.
