Page 66 of A Game Of Choice

“And I’m going to puke if you don’t put me down!” I warn.

He puts me down on my feet and I huff, spinning around to find Ryan, Clay, and Bianca standing there.

Ryan looks at Bishop and then down at me. “Do you want me to drive you home?”

Bishop steps forward, pushing me partially behind him. “I said I’d take her home. I think you’ve done enough.”

“What does that mean?” Ryan’s brows furrow. “I didn’t do shit.”

“You brought her to a place like this. And what the fuck, Clay? Bringing my baby sister here too?” He glares at Bianca. “You're coming home with me too. Say goodbye.”

“Bishop,” Bianca starts. She must see something on his face because she sighs heavily and says goodbye to Clay.

“You sure you're okay?” Ryan asks me, not paying any attention to Bishop.

“Of course, she’s fucking okay,” Bishop snarls. “Lilly is always safe in my care. I’d rather fucking die than let anything bad happen to her. Can’t say the same about you, can I? Seeing how you're bringing her to a shady place like this.”

I blink up at the tall, dark-haired, tattooed man before me. I didn’t know he cared that much about me. My heart does this funny little thing but maybe it’s the alcohol telling me I’ve had enough for the night.

“Lilly is an adult.” Ryan shakes his head. “Don’t you think it’s a little ridiculous how you and her brother keep hovering over her like she’s a porcelain doll? She’s perfectly capable of making her own choices. I wouldn’t have let anything bad happen to her. It’s full of college students, not drug dealers and crime lords.”

“Yes, college guys that are known for slipping drugs into girls' drinks. While they do their damn best here not to let that happen, it could.” Bishop sounds beyond pissed.

“And it can happen at any club or any party. I bought all her drinks, she was fine. And Clay bought Bianca's. Both of them are fine.”

“You—” he points to Clay, “—are going to stop dating my sister.” He points to Ryan next. “And if you knew what was good for you, you would stay away from Lilly.”

“Hey, now,” I slur, the last drink I had finally hitting me. “I like Ryan. He’s nice and funny and treats me good. So leave him alone, you big bully.”

Bishop glares down at me, but I just glare back up at him. At least I think I did... because, at that moment, everything goes black.

“Alright, we’re done here, you can hardly stay on your feet.”

“Lies,” I mumble. “What happened to the lights?” I feel a pair of warm arms wrap around me before my feet leave the ground. “Am I flying?”

“No.” Bishop laughs.

“Oh,” I pout, not having the strength to open my eyes. “You're warm and soft.” I snuggle into him. He just laughs again. I swear I feel something warm and soft press against my forehead before I lose consciousness.

THE NEXT TIME I OPEN my eyes, it’s to the sound of shouting. Sitting up, I blink my eyes open and groan as my head pounds like someone's beating it with a drum.

I’m in my room, that much I know. Looking over at B’s bed, I find her sleeping soundly, a snore coming from her lips.

“Must have been a dream,” I murmur to myself, but then I hear the voices again. Brows furrowing, I get up from my bed and make my way over to the door on shaky legs.

Opening the door, I hear someone yelling again but it’s coming from across the hall, from Toby and Bishop's room.

“What the...”

In only my sleep top and shorts—I pray it was Bianca who changed me, not Bishop—I slowly make my way over to their room. Testing the door, I find it unlocked. “Well, that's not safe.” Note to self, give the guys an earful on locking their door before someone slips in and kills them in their sleep or something.

“Lilly!” Toby screams my name with pure agony, making my whole world stop.

“Toby?” I ask in a panicked voice.

“Lilly, no, please!” he cries out again. I creep closer and my belly drops. He’s fast asleep. And he’s not dreaming. No, he’s stuck in one of his night terrors.

My eyes tear up, my heart aching for him.
