“Are you together?”

She shakes her head. “No, we’ve fooled around a bit, but nothing more than intense make outs and over the clothes petting.”

“Then I say you need to have a chat with Clay.”

“Yeah,” she sighs. “Fucking hell, what do I do about Jonas now? We’re best friends. I don’t think I can just go from friends to dating overnight.”

“Can’t help you there, babe. Turns out I suck when it comes to guys. Maybe take it slow?”

“Yeah, slow. I can do slow. I think it would be best to go slow. Because, girl, that was intense.” She laughs. “And nah, you're not that bad with guys, you have Ryan. He’s amazing.”

“He is.” I give her a guilty look. “But we’re nothing more than just friends.”

“Really? Well, shit, I thought you two would get together for sure.”

“Don’t get me wrong, I totally would have, but...”

“You're still hung up on a certain someone?” She gives me a sympathetic look.

Thinking of Toby, my eyes threaten to tear up again. Even though my heart is slowly dying, I need to remember that I deserve more than to be jerked around. “Not for long. My mission is to forget all about him, at least in a-more-than-friends way.”

“You know what they say, if you want to get over someone, get under someone else.” She giggles, wiggling her eyebrows.

“No,” I deadpan. “I’m not giving up my virginity as a fuck you to the guy who doesn’t want me.”

She cringes. “Yeah, bad idea.”

“I think I’m just going to focus on friends and school. If someone comes along and sweeps me off my feet, then awesome. But I’ll be okay in the meantime.”

“That's right. You got me, babe. And my stupid brother.” She rolls her eyes.

“Bee, he’s awesome, leave him alone.”

“Eww, don’t defend him,” she teases. “It’s like he’s got you under that charm of his that all the girls seem to fall for.” She narrows her eyes at me. “He does, doesn’t he?”

Does he? Because the thoughts I’ve had about him since yesterday don't scream best friends vibes.

But this is Bishop, there’s no way he would feel that way about me. I’ve seen the girls he hooks up with, and I’m not like them.

And I wouldn’t want to just be a hookup anyways, it would ruin our friendship.

“Oh, yes. Bee, he’s won my heart, and I’ll be throwing my panties at him the next time I see him.”

“You suck.” She glares and I laugh.

“But you love me.”

Chapter 21

Lillianna

“Come on!” I huff at Bianca, who is deep in her closet and still not dressed. “We’re going to be late. I’m giving you five more minutes, but then I’m leaving your ass to book it across campus on your own.”

“I’m hurrying! You can’t rush perfection.”

I roll my eyes, grinning from my spot on the edge of my bed. I’m already showered, dressed, and ready for the day; all by eight in the morning, for a nine AM class.

“No, but perfection can be late on her own to class. I actually want to learn.”
