I feel Bishop's body stiffen. “No. Not that it’s any of your business. I know it’s hard for you to accept, but Lilly is one of my best friends and has been for the past thirteen years. She’s not someone I’m just hanging out with because I’m bored. She is someone I want to spend time with because I actually like spending time with her. So, fuck you.” He glares at his sister, and she actually looks shocked.

Me? I get this giddy feeling that rushes through me that I try really hard to shut down fast but fail.

“Got a problem with that?” he asks, but not his sister. He asks Ryan.

I look over at Ryan who shakes his head. “Why would you two being friends be an issue for me?”

“Because I know most guys wouldn’t want their girl to be friends with other guys.”

“Well, I’m not most guys. If I can’t trust my girl to be around another guy and not cheat on me, then I shouldn’t be with her, should I?” Oh, I like Ryan. Well, not in that way, but, you know what I mean.

Bishop snorts out a laugh. “I like the way you think, but don’t be so easy to trust every guy. A girl like Lilly? Yeah, they would be working to steal her away, not become her friend.”

“Not me.”

“Why?” Bishop questions.

Ryan gives me a look like he’s asking to admit out loud we're not dating, and I nod. I don’t want to make some big lie out of it just for the off chance I might make Toby jealous. So, I nod.

“Because... Lilly and I are only friends. And I’m not trying to get in her pants. So, I do believe guys and girls can be just friends. And I hope whoever is lucky enough to win Lilly’s heart would see that she’s an amazing, loyal girl, and they should trust her not to stray, instead of causing issues with our friendship.”

Why do I get the feeling Ryan means a lot more with what he said than it sounded? Does he see something I don’t?

“Fucking hell,” Bishop sighs. “So you're not dating?” he asks me, and I shake my head. He looks up at Ryan. “Why did you have to go and make me like you?”

Ryan laughs. “I don’t know, man. Sorry?”

Bishop sighs. “Don’t be.” Then he looks at me. “Look at you, making all these amazing friends. I feel left out.”

“You don’t have to.” I grin up at him. “You have me. And we’re studying tonight, remember?”

“I do.” He grins. “And you left me hanging in our chat.”

“I was in class!” I giggle. “I can’t spend the whole class texting you.”

“And why not? I’m amazing,” Bishop says in mock offense.

“You're also impossible.” I shake my head, grinning like a fool.

“Awe, thanks!” Bishop coos.

“You two make me want to puke,” Bianca mutters. “Come on, Jonas, walk me to class before my lunch comes back up over these two besties.”

“Yes, ma’am.” Jonas grins, jumping to his feet.

“Bye, babe.” I wiggle my fingers as they both round the table.

“You make me sick!” She gags. “But I love you too. You're making it up to me, by the way!”

“Anything your heart desires,” I coo back to her.

“I’m holding you to that.” She points at me, then looks down at her brother. “And you.”

Bishop tilts his head back. “What about me?”

She quickly leans down and licks up his cheek before taking off in a fit of giggles.

“Oh, that's fucking nasty,” Bishop groans, wiping off his face. “That little shit is going to pay.”
