Maybe I was too early, but I was eager to see her.

I just want to see her. Texting her in class and seeing her at lunch wasn’t enough. A few hours alone with her? Yeah, I need that.

Toby, of course, wasn’t very happy about it. Which is stupid, seeing how he’s the one who told me to use up all of her free time so she couldn’t date someone else.

Fuck, and here I am trying to date her myself. God, I really am a shitty friend. But also, aren't I a good friend for stepping back before and giving them a chance? It’s not my fault he didn’t take it.

And to be honest, I’m not very happy with Toby these days. He’s been nothing but a moody asshole who keeps snapping at the team due to his own anger issues.

I get it, he’s pissed, sad, and everything in between, but he’s doing it to himself. And I don’t think we should all have to suffer because of it.

I’m trying to be a good friend and help him by setting up fights, but if anything, it’s just winding him up more. He won’t hook up with another girl, meaning that’s not an option to help burn off the extra energy, so he turned to drinking. When he’s drunk too much, that’s when the terrors kick in.

He’s only had one since the school year started, and that was the night Lilly showed up at the club, wasted off her rocker, and got a little frisky with him in the locker room. Which, by the way, was fucking hilarious. I love drunk Lilly.

After I brought Lilly home, I texted Toby and found out he was staying for a few drinks. Two hours later he came stumbling into our dorm room drunk as hell. I had a feeling he was going to have a night terror, so I slept with my earplugs in.

When I woke up, it was just as Lilly came into the room. I pretended to stay asleep to see what she would do. When she crawled into his bed and he calmed down the instant her body was tucked into his, all I could think was Toby is a damn fool.

Lilly is kind, loving, loyal, and even after he’s hurt her heart so many times, she still puts him first.

But who’s going to put her first?

I get it, Toby has his reasons, he deems himself not worthy of being with her. His reasoning being his anger and the fact that she’s his stepsister.

He wouldn’t listen to me when I told him that it’s not something Lilly would care about.

He’s so fucking stuck in his head, he doesn’t see he’s causing her more pain by rejecting her than she would be in by having to deal with this shitty town and their big mouths.

He cares too much for her to the point he’s his own downfall.

But me? Nah, Lilly is someone worth risking everything for, just to have the chance to be loved by her.

He might want to go the rest of his life regretting the chances he’s missed, but I don’t.

“Hey, you,” Lilly’s sweet musical voice has me standing up straight from my slumped position against the wall.

“You’re here early.” She smiles at me and fuck, I’m really a goner for this girl.

“Didn’t want to risk being late and have you thinking I wasn’t going to show up. Then who would you spend all your precious time with?”

“I mean, there is this cute guy I met at the coffee shop that asked me out; I could always call him up if you didn’t show,” she taunts, giving me a little smirk.

The amusement falls from my face as jealousy fills me. I narrow my eyes. “What's his name?”

“I’m joking.” She giggles, adjusting the straps on her messenger bag.

“Better be,” I mutter and follow after her into the library.

God, she looks edible tonight. Her hair looks to be curled then thrown up in a ponytail with two pieces of her bangs free. She has on a school sweater that’s tucked into her tight-fitted jeans.

My eyes are glued to her ass and my cock twitches. How the hell did I ever manage to hang out with her before and not pop a boner? I guess Toby being there helped.

I follow her deep into the library, stopping at a little quiet corner with some couches.

“What are you studying?” she asks me, pulling out some textbooks from her bag and placing them on the small table in front of her.

I hold up my textbook. I just grabbed the first one I could find and left. I didn’t realize it was my trig textbook until I was halfway here. “Trigonometry. Gotta study, I suck ass at it.” I don’t, I’m actually pretty decent in this class.
