So to have both these men here with me… it means the world.

Emerson finally moves from where he’s been standing to behind the couch. He crouches down when the doctor grabs his wand. “I’m going to use this on her belly. I won’t touch anywhere I don’t need to,” he warns before squirting some warm gel on my belly.

It takes a few seconds of him moving the wand around, but after some static sounds, we finally hear the whooshing sounds of a heartbeat.

That’s when I break, happy tears pouring down my face. It makes everything so real.

“Our baby.” Alistair looks up at Emerson with misty eyes of his own.

“Our baby,” Emerson repeats, his voice sounding raspy. He gets up and leans over to press his lips to mine. “Our little bambino.”

I want this moment to last forever. Because once we leave here, I know our lives will never be the same.

CHAPTER 14

ALISTAIR

“Stop,” she laughs softly as I watch her from the doorway.

“Stop what?” I ask with a cheeky smile.

She turns around, looking away from the vanity where she’s been doing her hair and makeup over to me. “Staring at me.” Her smile and flushed cheeks tell me she’s not mad about it.

Stepping in, I lick my lips. “I don’t think that’s possible, Cupcake. I’m obsessed with you, you should get used to this now. I could watch you for days.”

“That's creepy.” She raises a brow, a smile playing on her lips.

“Then I’ll be your creep,” I chuckle, cupping her cheek. She sighs, her eyes fluttering, closed as she leans into my touch. “Oh, Scarlett,” I say, my voice making her blush, “You have no idea how much you’ve changed our lives for the better.” I lean forward and place a soft kiss on her lips.

She whimpers, making me grin. Crouching down, I put my hand on her belly. “I can’t believe there’s a baby in there. Our little bean.” When I heard the heartbeat earlier, something inside me clicked, changing everything. I would die and kill to protect my child and its mother.

Emerson might call me crazy, but I believe in love at first sight. When it comes to Scarlett, I believe that this woman right here will be the key to warming his cold heart.

Not that I don’t add a sense of humanity to him. But what we have, it’s intense and primal. I don’t want his soft side, I love his darkness, his roughness.

But seeing him with Scarlett? It melts my heart.

Because, while I don’t need that attentiveness from Emerson, I’m someone who wants to give it. And that's not something Emerson is receptive to. Scarlett is perfect for me in many ways, too.

“I’m afraid, you know.” She whispers, laying her hand over mine, lacing our fingers together.

“Of what? You have nothing to fear anymore, Scarlett. I told you, no harm will come to you or our baby. You're safe now.”

“I know. It’s not that. Well, not just that. I’m afraid that I’m going to wake up and none of this will be real. That the person I married isn’t Emerson, but some cruel, cold-hearted man who only wants my body as a breeding tool. Like I prepared myself for.” She chews on her lip nervously.

“Never going to happen, Little Star. You’re ours. And while we live a dangerous life and our hands are far from clean, you and our baby will have a good life. I’ll fucking kill anyone who tries to harm what's mine,” Emerson snarls.

My cock twitches at his protectiveness. Scarlett looks down at me, her cheeks flushed. I’m not the only one who seems to be affected by it. “Is he always like this?” she asks me in a whisper, as if he can’t hear her.

“Worse.” I wink and stand. “But trust me, it’s so fucking hot.”

“You are unbelievable,” Emerson grumbles. “The both of you.” Scarlett giggles, and I smirk over at Emerson. “Come on. It’s time to go.”

“Are you going to tell me where we’re going?” Scarlett asks as she stands. For a moment, I take in her beauty, my eyes eating up every inch of her body. She’s in a flowing white sundress that shows off her ample cleavage. Her platinum blond hair hangs down over her shoulders in waves. She doesn’t have much eye makeup on, only mascara that makes her eyes pop and a pretty pink lipstick. I’d very much like to see what it looks like stained around my cock.

“Alistair,” Emerson growls. “Enough.”

“What?” I flick my gaze over to him. “I didn’t do anything.”
