He taps my watch. “Not on your life.”

I chuckle, spinning him around slowly so his back is to my front. “Scrooge and Pickles. A match made in the heavens.”

My mate tips his face up towards me and I meet his lips in a tender kiss, holding tight to him while I sway us back and forth to the music.

After a while, Dylan extracts himself from my arms. “We have to get to work if we want to have everything ready in time for the little one to arrive.” I watch him lovingly rub his belly and my lips curve up, enjoying how enthralled he is with his belly.

It takes us a few hours to get everything clean and organized and by that time, Dylan is dead on his feet. He sways a little when he stands from the floor and I tuck my arm around him. “Come on. Shower, then bed.”

Not giving me his usual trouble worries me, but Dylan smiles up at me with no sign that anything is wrong so I brush off my concerns. I get him in the shower and tucked into bed in thirty minutes. I tuck myself behind him, breathing in his new scent. I’ll never get tired of the sugar cookie and spice scent he carries now. I loved his peaches, but this spicy scent always has my heart fluttering and my cock growing. He’s too tired for me to try anything tonight, but I have plans for my omega in the morning.

At least, that’s what I think until I wake up in the middle of the night to a trembling and groaning Dylan. I initially think he’s too hot since I’m almost drenched with sweat. Flipping the blanket off, I see Dylan holding his belly and trying to breathe deeply.

“Baby!” I almost shout, coming alert quickly and pulling him into my arms. “Talk to me. What’s going on?”

He sits up, running a shaky hand over his brow. “I woke up …” he pauses, wincing and pulling in a deep breath, blowing it out roughly. “In pain. Fuck. I think the baby is coming.”

I scramble off the bed, grabbing my phone as I look for the clothes and bag we set aside for just this moment. I pull up the number to labor and delivery, letting them know we’re coming and grab Dylan’s slippers and a pair of pants for him.

Dylan stops me with a sharp cry. “I don’t think we’ll make it to the hospital, baby. I can’t … I need to push.”

“What? What do I do?”

Another cry leaves his lips and I drop everything in my hands and rush over to him. Dylan grabs my hand and squeezes, breathing deeply and still trembling. “Call for an ambulance. I don’t think we have time to call our doctor.”

Nodding, I grab my phone and call 911. I’m almost frantic when the operator gets on the line. “My mate is having a baby right now. I need an ambulance now!”

Luckily for me, the operator is very calm, giving me instructions on what to do and how to take care of my mate until the ambulance can arrive.

After stripping Dylan’s bottoms and checking to see if he’s dilated, I tell the operator that I can see my son’s head.

With a deep breath, the operator says, “Looks like you’ll be delivering your baby.”

He wasn’t lying. Everything happens quickly, but after about five minutes, the paramedics are knocking at the door and I’m holding a squalling baby. I lay our son on Dylan’s chest and rush to open the door. After cutting the umbilical cord, they rush both Dylan and our son out the door.

“Wait,” Dylan says. “We don’t have a name.”

“Whatever you want it to be, baby. I’m just glad you’re both okay.”

“Andrew O’Neal Berch, Jr.,” Dylan says as he looks down at our son wrapped in the blanket the paramedics provided us.

My heart is too full for words. “Yeah, okay. Little Drew.” My eyes sting as I walk beside my family and hop in the back of the ambulance. When they have Dylan settled in, I move close to his head so I can kiss him soundly, then kiss my son’s head. “Little Drew. Welcome to the world, my son.”

Epilogue

Dylan- Seven Months Later

“You may now kiss your husband!” the wedding officiant says and everyone claps as Rome and his new husband, Benji kiss for the first time as a married couple. Although they’re fated mates, they still wanted to have the official ceremony. Benji told me his best friend got married to his fated mate just last year and has been looking forward to the day where he and Rome exchange their vows too.

Little Drew starts waving his hands around in excitement at the applause and I grin down at him, clapping his hands together.

Ever since they came to the baby shower, we’ve been hanging out with Rome and his family, Benji, Tanner, and Samuel often. We’ve also met his other friends, Brandon and Mason, who have their own little man, Zane. It’s nice to have friends that aren’t my regulars at the bar.

Rome and Benji walk down the aisle, smiling wide as they leave the ceremony, followed by a waddling baby and a long-haired teen that looks over the moon for his parents.

After they exit the hall, we stand and exit the venue, heading down the street for the reception. There’s light snow on the ground and the happy couple and their family pose for pictures outside of a decommissioned fountain. Every member, even the toddler, has a smile on their face, not minding the cold at all.

Bundling Little Drew up, I hustle us down the street, wanting to get inside as quickly as possible. It’s only the next block over, so I’m not too worried about him getting fussy in the cold. Andrew holds his arms out for the baby and I hand him over, tucking the blankets around him snugly, making Andrew laugh.
