Another laugh bursts from my throat and I wrap an arm around his shoulders. “You have a friend like Zeke?”

He nods, smiling as he smells the flowers. “Yeah. Her name is Sy. She does my hair.” He drags some over his shoulder and looks at the ends. The green is getting duller, but still looks good. “We’ve been friends since we were in third grade and her folks moved to Reverdale. One of the best people I know.” He sounds sad, his voice taking on a loaded quality.

“You’ll see her again,” I tell him, wanting to keep telling him until he believes me.

With a grin and not a tear or disbelief in his eyes, he nods. “I know. I just miss her, is all. When I move, it’ll be hardest leaving her, but she just wants me to be happy, so she’s not holding me back. She’s a rock, that girl.”

For some reason, it makes me happy to know that he has someone that will look out for him. When I leave him, I want to know he’s taken care of. I need to know that he won’t be alone.

“Promise me something,” I say, our steps around the clearing slow.

“Mhm,” he says distractedly as he looks his fill at the beauty around him.

I turn him to face me, tipping his chin up so he meets my eyes. “Promise me that when you go back home, you’ll be happy. You’ll try to move on with your life and you’ll be happy.”

Finn searches my eyes, looking for what, I’m not sure, but I hold his gaze. I’m not sure why it’s so important to me, but he needs to answer. He needs to be honest.

Wringing his hands in front of him, almost shredding his flowers, he says, “I’ll try, Rax. I really will. I just really like this,” he moves his hand back and forth between us. “I’ve never had anything like it. It’ll be hard to get over. But yeah, I’ll be happy.” His bottom lip trembles briefly, but he bites it to stop it. “Will you?”

Honestly, I say, “I’m not sure. My life hasn’t really been happy. A few moments here and there, but nothing constant. But if I know you’ll be happy, I’ll survive.”

Not sure where any of that sappy shit came from, but it’s the truth. Knowing he’s fine will help me keep my head up and make my way through life.

Smiling sadly, Finn says, “Ugh, don’t bring the mood down.”

Laughing, I kiss him quickly, then start our walk back. “Sorry about that.”

“It’s cool,” Finn says, eyebrows dipped with hooded eyes. “You’ll just have to make it up to me.” The innuendo in his voice is apparent.

Laughing from deep in my belly, I kiss the back of his hand. “What am I going to do with you?”

“Whatever you want,” Finn says in a voice dripping with desire.

I back Finn up, my hands on his ass and push him against a tree. I take his mouth in a rough kiss this time, loving the rumble of his groan on my tongue. Being with him like this is better than anything I’ve ever experienced. The quick fucks I had in the past pale in comparison to how combustible Finn and I are together. Maybe because I didn’t care about those women. Or maybe because Finn is quickly becoming something more to me. No matter how I try to fight it or deny it, it has to be true. He’s something I look forward to.

Before I know it, Finn bites my lip hard enough for me to taste the metallic tang of blood. I snatch my mouth away, giving him an incredulous look. His eyes sparkle as he pushes me away, ducks under my arm and runs.

Laughing and wiping the blood from my mouth, I yell to his back, “Better hope I don’t catch you, sweet pea.”

“You won’t,” he yells back, his playful tone lighting me up and making my dick hard.

I give him a few seconds head start, then chase after him. He hasn’t gotten far, not running all out.

Tackling him to the ground, I grab both wrists into one of my hands, and thrust them over his head.

“Get off,” he screams, twisting under me. “Stop!”

He bucks his hips, pushing back against my rock-hard cock. He almost catches me off guard and topples me over, but I’m much too heavy for him. Moving my hand down his body, I grip the seams of his shorts. “Be still, sweet pea. It’ll only hurt if you fight me. You plan to fight me?”

“Fuck yes. Get off. I don’t … no!”

“Wrong answer, sweet pea.” I pull his shorts down, exposing his pretty panties. Unfortunately, they’re in my way. Gripping them by the back, I pull them until they give, ripping them away from his body. “I’ll keep these as a souvenir.” I put them to my nose and breathe in his intoxicating scent.

“Urgh. Fuck,” Finn groans, not fighting as hard as he was, but still wriggling. I place a hard slap to his ass and he cries out, fighting back harder.

I bend to breathe him in, but he tosses his head back, almost catching my nose. I grin at the back of his head. “Safe words?” I ask, breaking out of the scene for a moment.

“Red for stop. I won’t need it,” Finn says while breathing heavily.
