I stared at her without cracking a smile. I had a few gray hairs, but I supposed I took that from Aunt Jenahra. She had a headful. Uncle WJ had quite a few in his beard as well, ever since he was in his late twenties. Yendi cleared her throat and asked, “Did you go to college? Or did you just go straight into the family business?”

“I went to Lamar. A business degree or something related to business, like marketing, is required, even for family, unless they are just maintaining the rice or hay fields or the grass farms. Office jobs definitely require a degree or extreme expertise.”

I added that part because I knew Philly didn’t have a business degree. That nigga had the expertise needed though. He ran our numbers likehismoney was at stake. He was smart as hell and had to be if he was once a kingpin. It was time for a question of my own though. “How did you find Hardin Jefferson? I know they don’t pay a lot, because they cheap and can’t afford to anyway.”

She looked away for a moment. “It wasn’t about the money. It was about peace. I was actually looking at Beaumont first, but I wanted something even smaller than their district. So, I looked up surrounding districts. In D.C., I was the director of all the libraries in the district. That came with a lot of pressure and stress.”

“So what you running from to where you had to come way out here to find peace?”

“Just… personal issues with my family.”

She tilted her head again, and I immediately wished I wouldn’t have asked that question, because now the tables had turned on me. “I don’t think that’s uncommon though. I feel like you have issues too that you are trying your best to deal with. That’s why you’re so forward. You can’t handle holding anything else back, because what you’re holding is heavy enough.”

“So you diagnosing me? You have some therapy you wanna offer me? I’ll cancel the rest of my day for that shit.”

“You don’t have to cancel your day, but maybe we can meet up later.”

She looked away from me, but I reached across the table and grabbed her chin, turning her face back to me. I pulled off her glasses then slid my finger over her juicy ass lips. “Now say what you mean, Yendi.”

She bit her bottom lip as I watched the goosebumps appear on her skin. “I want to feel the orgasm you spoke of a couple of days ago. Is that direct enough for you?”

I removed my hand from her chin and began eating my food again without giving her a response. I could see her from my peripheral, watching me. She cleared her throat and went back to her food, sliding her glasses in the pocket of her V-neck top.

After eating a good amount of food in silence, I reached across the table to grab her hand. When her eyes met mine, I said, “I’ll be glad to come through and give that pussy what it needs. Send me your address.”

She blushed at my words as I felt my dick stiffening. Images of her naked body flashing through my mind had caused that reaction. When she nodded in agreement, I released her hand. I closed my container, knowing if I ate any more food, I would only be good for a nap. I watched her devour her yams. She literally closed her eyes and everything as she chewed. I could relate. My mama’s yams were the fucking truth.

When she opened her eyes, she met my gaze. “That’s that good shit, huh?”

Her face reddened again, but before she could respond, Nesha appeared next to me. “Hey, J.” She then looked over at Yendi and said, “Hello. I’m Nesha, his cousin.”

“I’m Yendi. Nice to meet you.”

Nesha nodded politely then turned her attention back to me. “The contract is done. I emailed it to Mr. Daniels, and he’s already signed and emailed it back. Uncle Kenny and my dad are going to go preliminary truck shopping this weekend. They aren’t going to purchase any until they have a meeting to get input from everyone else about the ones they selected as potential buys.”

“Damn. That went quicker than I thought it would.”

“First of all, that Henderson name carries weight. Mr. Daniels and Uncle Kenny have been friends for a while. He knows we’re good people and on top of our shit. It’s a win-win for everyone involved. These trucks will run specifically for us, but his name will be on them.”

“You damn right. We don’t fuck around. How you feeling though?”

She brought her hand to her belly and rubbed it in circles. “Pretty good. I can’t wait to meet our baby boy. Lennox and I agreed that his name will be Baylor Grant Guilman.”

“Okay. That’s a nice name. I’m glad all is well. How did you come up with Baylor?

“On Huggies dot com. Baylor means one who tends to horses. I thought it would be fitting. My baby is gonna know everything I know. Ooh! Feel right here!”

I brought my hand to her belly and felt my little cousin moving around like crazy. It was one of the most amazing feelings. I knew if it felt that great and he was just my cousin, it would be overwhelming to feel my own seed having a fit like that. “That’s that Henderson in him got him moving around like that. You know the Hendersons don’t mind fighting. He getting ready.”

She laughed then hugged me. “Are we going out to dinner tonight? I miss y’all on Friday nights.”

I glanced at Yendi, then asked, “What time?”

“I don’t know. Around eight or so? That’ll give everyone time to get home and get situated. Ty is finally feeling okay today. I couldn’t imagine carrying twins.”

“Okay. I’ll hit y’all up later to find out where we’re going.”

She glanced at Yendi and said, “Okay. See you later.”
