We used to wearRush Hourout! We were little when it came out, but we laughed like we knew everything they were talking about. We couldn’t fully appreciate the comedy until we got older. However, we knew every line of that shit. So Lennox quoting that line almost took Nesha, Jess, and me out.

“Tyeis, is Aunt Liv doing a shower for you?” I asked, realizing I’d unintentionally left her out after Jessica’s outburst.

“Actually, yes. She said she would be handing out invites to everyone tomorrow. It’s gonna be in three weeks, and it’s co-ed… mainly a big family gathering at the barn. Plus, the article Aunt Aspen asked me to help with will be available for all your reading pleasure that day.”

“That’s what’s up, Ty,” I responded.

“That’s my best fren! That’s my best fren!” Jess said while wiggling in her seat.

Then she and Tyeis made L’s out of their fingers on both hands and started doing a lil jig with them. They burst into laughter, and I was confused as hell. I looked around the table and everyone else seemed just as confused as me. Brix had shaken his head like he’d seen them do it before.

“Nesha, we gon’ have to show you the TikTok video, so you can be with us whenever we do it,” Jess said.

“Yeah, because I feel real left out right now,” she said and pouted.

“I’ma need that blunt soona than right now, nigga,” Decaurey said.

“Agreed.”

We continued talking for a little while longer then left, heading back to Nome. Since we all lived in Nome now, it was easy to carpool. Decaurey and Tyeis had ridden with Brix and Jess. So Brix and D got in the vehicle with me and let the two sillies ride together.

“Jessica’s video with Noah premiers next month,” Brix said as we drove.

“Oh cool! I can’t wait to see that shit,” Decaurey said.

“Yeah, I can’t wait to see it either,” I added.

“I can. I don’t wanna see Noah grabbing my cake.”

We laughed, and he chuckled. I knew he wasn’t serious, but I also knew he was extremely possessive when it came to Jess. Nigga could barely function if he was missing her. He was somewhat like that in high school, and they weren’t even a couple. However, him bringing that up reminded me that I hadn’t called Nate back. I would have to do that tomorrow.

“Thanks for meetingwith us on the weekend, Ali,” I said as I extended my hand.

Yesterday was a bust after I talked to Avery. I had to get my mind right. He told me that he didn’t have anything to do today, so Philly and I could come by the office. “That’s no problem. I’m honored to be in partnership with the Hendersons. Real shit,” Ali said.

“Well, we’re honored too, because now, we don’t have to get our hands dirty. We can focus on business, and not have to worry about bullshit like this,” I said as Philly continued to stare at him.

Ali noticed, and he cracked a smile. “Yeah, I used to run,” Ali said to him. “Who don’t know Philly “trigger happy” Semien?”

Philly grinned as Ali continued. “I ran for the Pattersons in Houston back in the day. By the time I ended up in Beaumont, you were out the game.”

“Damn. Okay. I remember the Pattersons, and I knew I remembered seeing you somewhere.”

“Yep. Jungle Patterson works with us. He dismantled all that shit. He said he was tired of that shit.”

“Damn. I can relate to that. Sounds like you have a good set up here though.”

“I do. It’s backed by my best friend, Attorney Shyrón Berotte.”

“That’s what’s up,” Philly said as he nodded and looked around.

“So what’s up with Tyrese?” I asked, getting us back on track.

“He went back to Houston, so Jungle and Seneca have picked him up again. That nigga don’t even seem like a threat. I think he just bumping his gums. He ain’t got so much as a speeding ticket. The only record of arrest he has is when he fucked with your people. I’m gon’ keep digging though. If he’s hiding something, I’m gon’ find that shit,” Ali said.

I nodded again. I was glad to have his crew on board. Watchful Eyes could be extremely beneficial to our family. As he and Philly talked a little more, my phone chimed with a text message. It was from a number that wasn’t saved in my phone, but I recognized it immediately as Yendi’s. I opened it to see what she had to say.Hey. I hope you’re having a good weekend.
