That did it. We all got cranked up all over again, until Lennox walked in with Baylor. That ended all thoughts of fucking people up. Everyone was cooing and being all sensitive. However, the minute Decaurey, Tyeis, and Angel walked in with Ellison and Essence, there wasn’t an angry emotion in the room. I shook his hand after he gave Ellison to Uncle WJ.

“So they let them out, huh?”

“Yep. They were doing well. They’ve gained a pound and seven ounces, and their lungs are great.”

“That’s good. I’m happy for y’all. I know y’all are glad to have them home.”

“Absolutely. No more running back and forth to that hospital.”

“I feel you, bruh.”

The door opened again and my baby brother, Rylan, and our cousin, KJ, walked in with frowns on their faces. “Why we wasn’t invited to the party?” Rylan asked as his frown deepened.

Everybody chuckled and spoke to them. I noticed Angel walk over to Rylan and hug him. She was nineteen now, but Rylan was still too advanced for her, in my opinion. However, he hugged her and was being kind to her. That made me happy. “Yeah, you see it.”

I frowned and turned back to Decaurey. “See what?”

“They’ve been talking on the phone.”

I frowned. “No shit?”

“Mm hmm. She said she told him of her condition of down syndrome, and they talk about everything. It seems to be an honest friendship, but I know she likes him. I’m sure he knows it too.”

“Hmm. That’s interesting. What does Tyeis have to say about it?”

“Not much. Ellison and Essence have stolen all her attention.”

“Did Angel ever talk to Creed?”

“Oh yeah! She did. He mentioned something about seeing her with me. They had him watching me. Once he saw her, that was a wrap. He found out that his dad knew who I was, so he stopped fucking with that nigga. He apologized to Angel, and he apologized to me. He said if we needed to know anything more, he would tell us. Since Tyrese been popped, ain’t nobody moving. It was crazy that those niggas were related and didn’t have a problem being with the same woman. Tyeis didn’t have a clue about that shit. But this was all Tyrese’s vendetta about Reggie and me wife-ing up Tyeis.”

He flashed his wedding band, and I shook his hand again. They’d gotten married and didn’t tell me. “Y’all muthafuckas! How y’all gon’ get married and not say shit?”

“Man, everybody got they own shit going on. Mama, Daddy, Angel, and Jess were there. We’ll celebrate another time.”

I slapped his hand and hugged him. That shit only made me think about Yendi more. I pulled away from him and went to get a peek at the babies. They’d gotten a little darker, but they looked just like Decaurey, freckles and all. I slowly shook my head as I thought about how he was worried about them not being his.

Before leaving the office, I made my way to Rylan, KJ, and Angel. I spoke to all of them then turned to my brother. “Can I talk to you for a minute?”

“Yeah, what’s up?”

I walked away from everyone, and he followed me. “What’s up with you and Angel?”

“Nothing. Why?”

“I don’t know. Y’all seem extra friendly.”

“Yeah. We talk on the phone sometimes. We’re just friends. I figured she needed one. All the girls in the family are younger than her, and I know she don’t wanna befriend those rowdy ass twins.”

I chuckled. “Naw, probably not. You know she feeling you, right?”

“Yeah. She knows I’m talking to somebody though. She’s sweet, but I’m not feeling her like that. I call her my lil cousin.”

I gave him the side-eye, because I didn’t believe him. “You know I ain’t tripping if you like her too, right? Just take it slow. She’s much younger than you… like eight years. She ain’t on your level sexually.”

He rubbed the top of his head, indicating I was right. “She uhh mentioned sex and wanting me to be her first.”

“What the fuck did you say?”
