“What better way to get to know each other more. You're not worried about snoring or talking in your sleep, are you?”

“Well, I wasn't before.” The muscles in my stomach tensed up as we entered the hotel.

He chuckled and his eyes lit up. I loved when I brought those small reactions out of him. “I'm sure you'll be fine. I can't promise I will though. Just be glad you're not sharing a bed with me.”

“Why do you say that?” I blinked at him, and we stepped up to the front desk. Someone called out they'd be right there, and I was glad, because it gave me more time to get his answer.

“I was told I steal the covers and move a lot. Apparently, I can get a little violent too, and I have no idea I'm doing it either.”

Not what I expected at all, and for some reason it made me more excited for our sleepover. I'd get to witness another side of him. I had already known I wasn't perfect, and it was good to see he had flaws too. Maybe he was right, about us not being so different from each other—at least I wanted him to be.

We checked in and got a room key. Franky wrapped his arm around mine and it warmed my heart at how easy it was for him to touch me. He never thought twice about grabbing me or resting a hand on my shoulder. We both laughed when we hit the elevator button at the same time, and after a few minutes of awkward silence in the elevator, we were finally on the right floor. Franky stayed ahead of me and opened the door, allowing me to walk in first.

There were two large beds, with a small amount of space between each. The room was definitely bigger than the others I’d stayed in, and I immediately threw myself on the soft blankets when the door shut behind him. My bag landed beside me.

“Tired already?”

“I did a lot today.”

“Your day did start before mine. I laid around in bed before meeting you.”

“Maybe tomorrow we can lie around together,” I said.

“Yeah. Sounds nice. After pancakes of course.”

“Oh right, I forgot about the pancakes. Although I think I'll try the waffles this time, and maybe some yogurt. Oh, and a bagel or two.”

His laughter was one of the many things I was growing attached to, and I got to hear it for the next hour as we watched some old episodes ofThe Golden Girls together. We ate some of the desserts, and Franky disappeared into the bathroom for a shower. As curious as I was to see what he looked like under his clothes, I wasn't sure if it was considered bad or not for humans to peek at each other while bathing. I hadn’t seen a movie to teach me that yet. Monsters washed themselves out in the open. We didn't usually have doors or curtains to shield us in the rivers and ponds.

I luckily had privacy in my cabin, but there was nothing separating my bathing area from the rest of the house. Franky entered the room again in nothing but a pair of striped pants. His chest had a patch of red hair at the top center and a tiny trail went from his belly button to the top of his pants.

“Do humans always bathe alone?” I randomly asked, tugging off my shirt.

“Usually. There are exceptions sometimes.” Not looking my way, he climbed into bed and under the covers, and changed the channel on the TV. The screen was filled with a dark sky and stars. Soft, soothing music played in the background.

“I know it's not your glow-in-the-dark stars but it's the best I can do.”

I cracked a smile, beaming on the inside. “It's wonderful.”

“So was today. Thanks for spending it with me.”

He grew a little quiet, and then his snores filled the room like they had on the phone a couple of times. I didn't have to pretend he was asleep beside me this time. He was.

“Night, Franky,” I whispered, stripping off the rest of my clothes and sliding down in the bed, never taking my eyes off him.

Light came into the room, and I shielded my eyes while they adjusted. I didn't remember falling asleep, but apparently I had at some point while talking to Nova.

Nova.

My eyes widened and I looked over to the other bed. He wasn't there. Sudden panic stabbed at my chest. Did I do something to scare him off? A couple of nights before, I’d been having a nightmare and Edgar tried to wake me. When he’d lightly shook me, I’d wrapped my arms around his neck and he’d struggled to get away from my strong grip, forced to hit me with a pillow. I'd warned him about my bad sleeping habits, so he was very understanding, but decided he wouldn't come near me again when I had another bad dream. I couldn't blame him.

Had Nova tried to wake me? I tossed my covers to the side and got to my feet. As soon as I curved around Nova's bed, I saw his body curled up on a blanket on the floor. He was completely naked with his face buried in his pillow. I took a step back, my breaths ragged. I couldn't stop looking and there was no explanation as to why. He really was so different from anyone I'd seen before.

It wasn't just because of his different variations of skin or all the stitches holding him together. His body called to me in a way no one's ever had before. The gorgeous glow and perfect curves. My throat went dry when I kneeled on the ground to cover him up. He was on his side with one leg lifted, revealing his hairless balls and his cheeks spread a little. I'd seen men naked in the gym locker rooms before and changing out of scrubs at work too. Never had I cared to look twice. Their bodies never did anything for me and that’s why I'd assumed I was straight for so long.
