"I am," Ma responded quickly. "Why didn't you tell me Ronald was such a well-mannered man with a lot of experience?! He's traveled to a lot of countries and gave me some funny stories."

Oh, yeah, I forgot my mother loves reading those travel blogs and everything in weird parts of the world. I was very glad that these two had hit it off.

"Yeah, I'm sure we just needed to talk and get to know each other, and I understand that the two of you are very protective of your daughter. I have a daughter as well and I would do anything for her-even die for her." The more he talked the more I understood how he got to connect with them.

Dad didn't smile, but he nodded in agreement. "I will admit; I came here wanting to hate you."

"Dad," I interjected, but Ron stopped me.

"No, it's fine."

"But… you're a better man than I hoped you'd be. Are you worthy of my daughter? I don't know. I don't know if I would ever feel any man is worthy of my angel, but I don't hate you."

"I'll take it!" Ron exclaimed with enthusiasm, grinning from ear to ear, causing Ma to laugh.

"You're a positive one. I will give you that."

"Would you believe me if I told you I got that trait from your daughter?"

Damn, he's good.

Ma smiled, unable to hide how impressed she was. She gave me a quick look saying 'Yeah, you chose right' or 'You are right.'

"All right, I think the party is over now. All the board guys have gone home. I can finally take you to see our home." I loved how he called it our home even though it was his house. I would say I even spent more time there than he did before his accident.

We drove home, talking about several things on the way. Because Mom and Dad were only staying for the night, they didn't come with any luggage. Both their clothes fit in her large bag. Don't ask me how she could fit anything inside there. I'd gotten lost in her bag. It's one of those 'woman things' that I never picked up.

On reaching home, we were able to show my parents that I would be safe with Ron, and after that, we talked a little they met Maddie. They were especially nice to her because I had told them beforehand that she had gone through a lot of medical issues. Of course, I didn't divulge the intensity of her situation, but what I told them was enough for them to be extra caring with her. She seemed to like it and liked being in their company.

Ron later went to the room, giving me time to talk with my parents. Maddy, Ma, Dad, and I sat in the living room and gisted.

I went to the kitchen to get something to eat, and Ma followed me. "I like him."

"I'm glad. Not sure what Dad feels the same way."

"Trust me, this is him liking Ronald. It's harder for him, you know? His little girl growing up and now being entrusted to another man."

"Yeah."

"Maddy. You said she's going through a lot, but I wouldn't know it from talking to her."

"She's a strong kid," I seconded that.

"I want to go upstairs, though. You guys should get some rest; you're traveling tomorrow."

"We can sleep on the airplane," Ma retorted.

"Okay, good night. I love you." I hugged her.

"I love you too, Sweetie." We went to the living room, so I could tell Dad and Maddy goodnight. Then I went upstairs to be with the man I loved. I suspected that he'd be awake because tonight was meant to be a nice celebration.

Ron was pressing his phone when I entered. The way his eyes lit up after seeing me and that beautiful smile carved on his face. Fuck. How did I get so lucky?

"Today was wonderful thanks to you," I showed my appreciation.

"No, no, no. This was your achievement. You are the one that came up with the creative vision for those songs."

"Let's just call it our achievement, okay?" By now, I'd lay on the bed next to him, kissing his chest. I wished to spend. The final moments of today with you, Ron. I continued kissing his chest and he kissed my head, then I raised my face, to kiss him on the lips. My chin rested on his finger as he stared at me with admiration.
