It wouldn’t be a good look for him or the company, but it would be a fulfilled fantasy for me. The man oozes so much sex appeal that it’s almost impossible to ignore it.

If he hadn’t been so cruel and bossy to me, perhaps I would have tried seducing him.

Minutes turn into hours, and I find myself working through lunch. I feel trapped, torn between the desire to please Jayden and the need to take breaks.

He hasn’t shown up to work yet, and he isn’t responding to messages or calls, but even his absence won’t stop me from doing my tasks the way that I’m required to–fast and without breaks.

Throughout the day, I’m constantly on edge, anticipating Jayden’s looming presence. When he finally walks into the office, my heart races.

I do my best to appear confident and attentive as I follow him into his office. My legs hurt from wearing my sling-back low heels all day. It seems I may have outgrown them a bit.

“Good morning, sir,” I say as soon as he settles into his chair. I watch him take off his navy-blue suit and hang it on the metal and marble coat rack stand just next to him.

“Good morning, Carissa.” He glances at me briefly just as he mentions my name before opening his laptop.

“Did you have a good weekend?”

It’s new for Jayden to ask something like that, so I’m taken aback a bit.

“Yes, yes, I did,” I stutter as he looks at me again.

His eyes are warm and delicate, and I almost give in to my intrusive thoughts to kiss him.

“What’s on your mind?” he asks.

I almost gasp. Can he read my mind?

Why would he ask me that?

His eyes are still on me, and I don't know how to act.

“I beg your pardon?”

“What’s on your mind?” he repeats and shrugs. “What have you been working on?”

I exhale and nervously tap on my tablet.

“Well,” I clear my throat as I clumsily scroll through, “I want to update you on the progress of the Smithson project.”

He moves his laptop aside and folds his arms on his desk, his entire attention on me.

“We have made significant progress since last week and through the weekend, and I believe we’re on track to meet the deadline.” I swallow.

The calmness of his eyes distracts me, and I can’t help but wonder what he’s thinking as he stares at me.

“We have finalized the market analysis and the preliminary client feedback is positive. The team is now focusing on streamlining the production process to maximize efficiency.”

“And what about the financial projections? Are they in line with our expectations?” he asks in a soothing voice.

“Y-yes,” I stutter and clear my throat. “The financial team has provided the initial projections, and they appear to be in line with what we discussed. I’ll continue to monitor them closely to ensure accuracy.”

“Keep a close eye on that but make sure you’re taking breaks as well,” he says.

I think I misheard, so I ask, “Sir?”

“And call me Jayden. Aren’t we acquainted outside of the office?”

I blink and look away, as I feel the heat rising to my face.
