Chapter ten

JAYDEN

On the ride to the office, my mind is anything but focused on the meetings that await me upon my arrival. Instead, my thoughts are consumed by Carissa.

I had been awake the night before because, for some reason, she chose to show up in my dreams.

Right now, I don't recall the details, but I remember Carissa’s face. How can I not?

I’ve been taking the time to look at her over the past week. My body aches to touch hers, and I can barely control it.

The logical thing to do will be to avoid her and not mess around in the workplace, but sometimes it’s okay to defile logic.

I like the fact that I know all the secrets behind all that fabric she wears to mask them. It excites me because when I look ather, I basically see her without them–bare as the day she was born.

Knowing that we have this secret that no one else knows about only makes it all the more exciting for me.

I wonder if she thinks about me in that way or if she keeps reminiscing about the night that got us here in the first place.

Her sweet little innocent face doesn't help, because I have seen firsthand how it looks when she is in the guise of pleasure, hanging on by a thread for dear life.

I stop the car in the parking lot, and I reluctantly alight and make my way to the office.

I am aware Carissa already made it here earlier, as usual, because she had emailed me twice.

I find her in a conversation with Jesse as soon as I enter, coffee in hand and nodding continuously as Jesse goes off.

As soon as they see me, they walk back to their desks, and I flash a smile at everyone.

When Carissa walks into my office, I pause to take in her appearance.

A well-fitted stylish blazer that perfectly complements her tailored trousers.

The sheer lace Cami top she has on beneath the blazer accentuates her cleavage and gives her a totally chic look.

God, she is sexy!

In the early days, she had been more casual and occasionally mismatched. It isn't something I would like to mention directly up until now, I can't help but notice a transformation.

“You look gorgeous in that,” I say after realizing she had been waiting a while for a response to her “Good morning,”

She looks down at herself with red cheeks. “Thank you,”

“Here is the report from Pamela’s––”

“Do you want to go out later tonight? Dinner?” I interrupt her, damning the consequences. She will very likely say no, but I’m a charmer.

“Are you… Are you asking me out?” she asks, her eyes wide as saucers and her lips slightly parted in a gasp.

“Yes, and I won't take no for an answer. Just in case you thought that was an option.”

She lets out a chuckle and flips her hair. “Well, okay then. But do I get the option of thinking about it? I mean, I have work tomorrow.”

“I’m your boss. I don't think you should worry about that.”

“You don't need to ask me because I don't have much of a choice,” she says.

“No, you don’t.”
