The rest of the ride back to my penthouse creates a love-hate atmosphere between us as we try to put the events of the night behind us.

By the time she pulls up in front of the house, she looks brighter and the frown lines on her face are gone.

“You live here,” she says more like a statement than a question.

“Most of the time, yes!” I respond. “Thanks for the ride.”

“You’re welcome.”

I start walking away from the car but quickly retrace my steps back to her. It wouldn’t be so bad to make up for rejecting her offer of drinks earlier by inviting her in.

“Do you want to come in? I have wine.”

She laughs dryly. “Same drinks you didn’t want to have with me earlier? I’m good.”

“Well, let me make it up to you.” I lean against the door and touch her hands on the steering for effect. “Please.”

In the minutes that follow, we walk into my house. Me, happy to be home after such a long night, and Carissa, looking around and appreciating most of the art and artifacts.

“It's a beautiful place,” she compliments when she finally sits on one of the sofas.

I walk in with two glasses and a bottle and sit next to her.

“I can't drink so much,” she says immediately. “I have work tomorrow and I definitely don't want to lose it on the first day,”

“Oh, just one glass then.” I pour her a glass and watch as she takes a big sip.

“First day of work, yeah? What have you been doing before now?” I ask in a bid to start a conversation.

“Um, basically the same thing,” she replies. “I’ve been in corporate business for a long time now. I just had a down moment that required me to change jobs. A new environment.”

I can tell she is trying not to spill too much, so I decide not to press any further.

“You know, we don't have to talk about that if you don't want to. Everyone has their down times, and it’s okay if you only share it when you feel ready,” I say as I stir the wine in my glass.

“I remember never wanting to talk about my parent’s divorce,” I add after a sip. “But now I can go on about it with the people I feel close to.”

When she looks at me, I realize how comfortable her presence makes me feel. It feels as if I have known her for longer than a few hours.

She has striking emerald-green eyes that seem to shimmer with an inner vitality, adding to her undeniable allure.

My eyes dart to her parted lips as she continues to stare, and I can’t help but notice how plump they look.

They possess a natural rosy hue, soft and full. A total epitome of temptation, drawing my gaze like a magnetic force.

True to my nature of giving in easily to temptation, I lean over and kiss her, a light warm kiss.

She doesn’t resist. Instead, her lips part even more, giving way for my tongue with her eyes closed.

I kiss her again, this time more intensely, savoring every bit of her lips.

Her fingers crawl to my face and she begins to kiss me back.

Her shoulders drop as she allows her body to be in the moment and enjoy every bit of it.

What started as a slow, passionate kiss grows into a wild one as we tear at each other’s clothes, aching to feel our bare skin.

As soon as I undo her black lacy bra, my lips travel down the length of her neck to the curve of her breast. I squeeze and suck on them as she wriggles, clasping my head like her life depends on it.
