“Okay. I can do that,” she kissed my lips and I felt the tension slowly leave my body.

“Remember, no affection, just lust,” I warned Elle for the third time as the car pulled up outside the restaurant overlooking the port.

“I know, I know! Trust me, that won’t be hard to do,” she flirted, trying to ease the obvious concern on my face.

“And you can’t get all hot-headed in there. If he says something you don’t like, you must stay tight-lipped. Mistresses know their place and would never speak out. If all else fails, just copy Veronica’s behaviour.” She rolled her eyes and I grabbed her jaw in my hand quickly, “And save the eye rolling for me only, Princess.”

I pecked her lips when she gave me a cheeky smile and released her. We made our way into the bustling Greek restaurant and were immediately taken through a back door and up some stairs to a private dining area. I walked through the door first, Elle behind me in her stunning white dress that stopped just below her knees. It was still skin-tight and showed off her exquisite figure, but it would at least keep Galiz’s eyes from wandering too much.

What I saw before me had me frozen to the spot, causing Elle to bump into my shoulder. She released a little gasp when she realised what was happening. Galiz was leaning back in his chair at the dinner table, a cigar hanging from his lips as Veronica was bent over his lap, her head bobbing up and down frantically as she sucked his dick. Fucking great. So this was how he wanted to set the tone.

“Copy Veronica's behaviour? Are you sure about that?” Elle whispered next to me with amusement.

I cleared my throat to announce our presence and Galiz merely turned his head to the side, taking a puff of his cigar and then removing it with his fingers to beckon us over. Veronica was still working his dick when we reached the table. Galiz’s dark eyes were set on Elle as he smirked mischievously at the blush creeping up her cheeks.

“Do you mind? I’d rather not watch you come before I eat dinner,” I hissed, narrowing my glare on him in warning. His eyes darted to me and he leaned forward, placing his cigar in the ashtray before tapping Veronica’s shoulder to give her permission to sit up. She wiped her mouth as he made himself decent and Elle and I sat down opposite them.

“Veronica is my number one for giving the best head. Can’t blame a man for getting it when he can,” Galiz sneered, his eyes flicking over at Elle’s lips. “She looks like she might have some skills in that area too.”

I wrapped my arm around the back of Elle’s chair protectively because I couldn’t fucking help it. Mistress or not, he needed to know she was mine. “She does.”

“I bet,” he smirked, running his tongue over his gold incisor tooth. Galiz was hell-bent on holding onto every typical stereotype of an American gangster. The expensive suits, the thick fingers adorned with large signet rings that were really weapons to aid a fight, the deep scar running across his left cheek and the sleazy gold-plated teeth. He had put on a little weight since I had last seen him eight years ago and his hair was starting to grey at the sides, but he still looked the same. Like the devil dressed up.

The waiter came over and poured us both a whiskey and the women a wine, before placing the starters down on the table.

“How is my old friend, Don Diego?” Anthony spoke directly to me and I relaxed now that his attention had moved away from Elle.

“He is well. He sends his regards and apologises that he could not meet with you in person.”

He tilted his head slightly to assess my words as I held his gaze, not showing any weakness. “I was pleased to hear I would be meeting with you, Alessio. The prodigy. It has become pretty clear who had been the mastermind behind your families’ operations for some time. I believe you are here instead of him because I am looking at the new King of the South. Or should I say, ‘King of Italy?’”

“My father is still very much in charge, Galiz,” I smiled, lifting my whiskey to my lips.

He nodded, “Maybe. But for how much longer? I’ve heard the rumours. My condolences, but also, congratulations.”

I placed my glass back down with a stern gaze. How he knew my father was dying, I wasn’t sure, but if he thought I would confirm the rumours to him, he was a fool.

“I don’t know what you are speaking of, Galiz. But when the time comes that I do take over, I look forward to forming new friendships.”

I lifted my glass in the air to him and his smile widened. “As do I.”

We ate the rest of dinner without much drama. Elle kept quiet and meek at my side, playing her part the entire time, which allowed me to stay sharp and witty with Galiz. When we had all finished eating and the plates had been removed, Anthony’s gaze travelled back over to her once more, causing my whole body to stiffen.

“So, Flora. That’s a pretty name. What part of Italy are you from?”

“Roma,” she smiled, holding his gaze. I avoided looking at her and kept my eyes fixed on Galiz.

“Roma?” he nodded. “And how did you meet Alessio?”

“She works for me. In one of my clubs,” I quickly intervened as his eyes flicked from me and back to her.

“I see. I imagine it must take a special type of girl to gain the undivided attention of Alessio Barbieri.”

My heart started thundering in my chest as Elle looked at the side of my face for support.

“She has certain talents that hold my interest as I am sure Veronica does,” I smirked, trying to hide how much this direction of conversation made me uneasy. Why was he asking about her? I didn’t care to find out anything about Veronica.

“Veronica is one of my many sluts. Never do they hold my interest for long,” Galiz chuckled and Veronica’s fake smile, that had been plastered on her face all evening, fell. Her eyes connected with Elle’s and she quickly looked away.
