“You are insane!”
“Says the one aiming the gun,” he replied, raising his eyebrow up suggestively.
“Give me your phone!”
“No.”
“Alessio!”
“Elle!” he mimicked me and I groaned in frustration. “We both know, you are not going to shoot me, so just put the gun down.”
I stared into his stunning eyes as he held my gaze, never once looking away and my resolve began to falter. Who was I kidding? I could never shoot this man. He was my ultimate weakness and that is why I was so fucking doomed. I slowly started to lower my trembling hand as I breathed heavily, the atmosphere between us still abundant with sexual tension. I relaxed, but it was a moment too soon. The gun vibrated in my hand and my eyes widened as Alessio suddenly fell to the floor in agony, clutching his leg.
I dropped the gun with a loud clatter, slamming my hands over my mouth.
“You fucking shot me!” he bellowed as I started flapping my hands and swearing.
“Oh my god! Shit! Oops, I am so sorry! Oh fuck!”
He glared up at me, his leg now oozing with blood from a gunshot wound in his thigh, “Oops? You’re sorry?! Jesus!”
“I didn’t mean to shoot you!” I hissed, anger erupting in me. “I don’t even know how it happened! It must have been a faulty gun!”
“Um, no. I think you just shot me,” he replied sarcastically as he removed his hand to inspect the wound. I bit my lip, grimacing at the fleshy hole in his leg and heaved. “Don’t be fucking sick, Princess.”
“What do I do?” I panicked, pacing the floor frantically.
“Get a towel! And belt!” he ordered and I sprang into action, ripping the towel off my body and throwing it at him as he sat against the wall. He paused, staring up at me in disbelief. “Are you fucking kidding me? I may have just been shot, but I will still try and fuck you if you expect to stand around naked in front of me.”
I rolled my eyes and opened the wardrobe, pulling on a black T-shirt of his instead.
“Better?” I raised my arms out at the side.
“A little. The belt?” he gritted through his teeth. I grabbed a leather belt from the bottom of the wardrobe and raced to my knees in front of him. He took it from me and placed it between his teeth as I stared at him in confusion.
“Shall I ring for an ambulance?” I asked with concern as he lowered his leg onto the towel and undid the top of his jeans.
“And use my phone? Not a chance,” he groaned with the belt between his teeth. “Help me out of these.” He leaned up slightly and shimmied out of his jeans as I pulled them down his legs, trying to avoid aggravating the bloody wound. He hissed as the fabric scraped over it and then he was sitting in his boxers, his impressive, muscular legs on full display. I slammed my hand over my mouth when I saw him delve his fingers into the flesh causing him to roar into the belt.
“What are you doing?” I yelled in alarm.
He pulled his fingers out, panting heavily and threw the bullet down on the wooden floorboards. Wrapping the towel around his leg and applying pressure, he looked up and smiled at me as I pulled the belt from his mouth.
“What the hell are you smiling about?” I cried.
“Just that you have a habit of punishing me after I kiss you. First time you slapped me. And now you shot me. I dread to think of what will come next.”
I pursed my lips together and tried not to laugh at his goofy grin. I failed miserably as we both started to chuckle and I hid my face in my hands.
“You know, you could easily escape now. I wouldn’t be able to run after you.”
“And leave you to die? I am not heartless,” I raised my eyebrow and he leaned his head back against the wall. “And anyway, there is always tomorrow.”
Suddenly, a knock on the door interrupted us and Fabi poked his head around. He looked between us both sitting on the floor—blood everywhere—Alessio in his boxers and me in his T-shirt. He stepped into the room, staring down at his leg and then the gun on the floor.
“What the fuck happened in here?” he asked, his dark eyes surveying the bloody scene with scrutiny.
“I kissed her and she shot me,” Alessio shrugged and I hit his shoulder.
