Every move, every word, every breath — all of it was being broadcast to unknown beings for their entertainment.

The very ground beneath us, the air around us, was alive with unseen eyes.

I tried to recall every action, every expression I’d displayed since waking up in this hellish game.

The vulnerability I felt was like nothing I’d ever experienced before.

“Why? Why do they do this?” The question was more of a plea, an attempt to make sense of the senseless.

Talan sighed. “For them, it’s just a show. A thrilling spectacle. They’ve grown bored with their own lives, their own worlds. So they turn to others. To us.”

I looked at Talan, so different, yet here with me in this shared nightmare. “And you? Why were you chosen? Why am I the prize?”

His gaze locked onto mine, intense and unwavering. “I don’t have all the answers, Riley. But I promise you this: I will protect you with everything I have.”

The weight of our situation pressed down on me.

Yet, despite the fear, the vulnerability, there was a small glimmer of hope.

With Talan by my side, maybe, just maybe, we could find a way out of this twisted game.

Still, the thought of being watched, being scrutinized, left me feeling exposed in a way I’d never known.

Every emotion, every vulnerability laid bare for the universe to see.

As we sat side by side on that towering tree, overlooking a world designed to test our every limit, I felt a renewed sense of determination.

We were more than just pawns in a cruel game.

We were fighters,survivors.

But the lingering thought remained, casting a dark shadow over everything: we were being watched, analyzed, judged.

And there was nowhere to hide.

Not from the billions of unseen eyes.

Talan

The way Riley absorbed everything I shared was…unexpected.

I’ve known many beings, of various species, who would’ve crumbled under a fraction of this pressure.

But not her.

Her spine was made of sterner stuff, though it was still clear she grappled with the scope of her reality.

“I don’t care how many eyes are on me or what this game’s rules are,” she said defiantly, her eyes ablaze. “No alien is going to ‘Claim’ me. We’ll find another way out of here.”

I couldn’t help but smile slightly at her spirit, but I needed to correct her on one thing. “It’s not a planet we’re on, Riley.”

Her brow furrowed in confusion. “What do you mean? Then where are we?”

I hesitated for a moment, considering the best way to reveal the truth.

Finally, I gestured upward, towards the vast expanse of the nightsky.

She followed my gaze, and I felt her hand tighten around my arm, searching for stability.
