But in his haste, he stumbled upon the edge of the platform, the vast expanse of space yawning beneath him.

He didn’t fall over it.

That would require a strong nudge.

Seeing the opportunity but acting faster than me, Talan threw himself forward and slammed into the creature.

The Zylvari’s howl turned into sheer horror, but even in his downfall, he refused to go alone.

With a swift, cruel motion, he grabbed Talan, pulling him over the edge with him.

And with Talan, cameme.

I screamed, the metallic taste of terror flooding my mouth.

The handcuffs that bound us together yanked me forward, the world tilting dangerously.

In a heart-stopping moment, I too was plummeting, dragged into the vast, cold abyss by the combined weight of the two powerful beings.

Space.

It was a vast, cold, and unfathomable expanse.

And I was falling headlong through it!

The pull of gravity made my insides churn with disorientation.

My lungs heaved, yearning for air, but there was little to be had.

The panic was setting in fast.

Suddenly, a solid form enveloped me.

Talan.

His large body wrapped protectively around mine, his scales glistening with a soft luminescence that was somehow comforting amidst the darkness.

I clung to him, my fingers digging into the spaces between his scales, grounding myself to the only thing that felt real.

Our descent was punctuated by the soft, pulsating glow of the grenade still attached to the Zylvari’s back.

It emitted a turquoise light, the hue casting surreal shadows against Talan’s blue scales and making the Zylvari’s form more grotesque in its illumination.

The creature, its eyes wide in terror and confusion, fumbled clumsily with the explosive attached to its back, making it turn in circles as it fell.

Every time his claws nearly grazed the device, it burrowed deeper into his thick fur, eluding capture.

I could hear the muffled grunts of frustration, even as the atmosphere thinned.

Talan’s grip on me tightened, and I could feel the rise and fall of his chest become more labored.

His heart thumped slowly, powerfully.

It was soothing, even here.

We were both struggling, but it was evident he was faring slightly better in these conditions than I was.
