The vast fields of Zorania, my home planet, stretched endlessly before me.

The golden crops swayed with the gentle breeze, their tips glowing with a gentle luminescence under the twin suns.

I was working the fields with my family, the soil coarse beneath my hands, its familiar scent comforting.

Our crops were unique, responding to the touch with a soft glow, making the task almost therapeutic.

Our planet’s tradition required each family to nurture a patch of land, believing that this kept us grounded and connected to Zorania.

While tilling the soil, I remember looking up to the sky, and observing the peaceful dance of our neighboring planets.

But that serenity was interrupted by a sudden, blinding flash of light.

So bright it obscured everything, turning day into a radiant, glowing night.

Then, as quickly as it had appeared, the light was gone.

I found myself in a completely foreign environment, disoriented, the familiar scent of Zorania’s soil replaced by the sterile air of the glass pod.

Panic surged within me, trying to claw its way out, before my training took over.

The training my father had given me in the wild backwoods of Zorania.

Hunting for wild game.

Except, nowwewere the game.

And our enemies would not stop until they got what they wanted.

What I held tightly in my arms right now.

In the midst of this chaos, Riley’s presence was a comfort.

I don’t know her, but the way she looks at me, the way she clung to me — it was as if we were both adrift in this vast unknown, and somehow, our fates had become intertwined.

My musings were interrupted as Riley shifted in my embrace, her face tilting up to look at me, those wide, expressive eyes searching mine, filled with a mix of fear and curiosity.

The closeness was palpable, the tension almost tangible.

I took a deep breath, steadying myself.

Now was not the time to get lost in my desires.

Not when danger lurked around every corner.

Not when that monstrous creature might still be out there, searching for Riley.

Yet, despite the peril we faced, I couldn’t help but lose myself in the scent of her hair, the softness of her skin, and the comforting warmth she exuded.

It felt like an anchor in this maddening storm of confusion and uncertainty.

The intimate proximity was both a balm to my soul and a test of my restraint.

It might have been mere moments, but as I held her close, surrounded by the strange foliage and sounds of this alien planet, one thing became crystal clear.

Riley was the center of it all.
