“And what do you think this is?”

He shook his head. “An inconvenience.”

My omega was never an inconvenience.

Whatever look was on my face must’ve said enough because Silas retreated down the hall towards his room. He’d been spending more and more time in there away from us ever since Jacob and I told him what had happened even though it was prevalent enough that Silas should’ve been able to scent Vera in the apartment, even if he hadn’t given an single guess as to what he thought about it other than his moody insistence of how much of an inconvenience we all where at this point.

But if both me and Jacob were scent matches with her, Silas had to be too. Right?

I swallowed, the tiny stabs of fear lingering there that maybe he didn’t feel what we did because he couldn’t. But that couldn’t be right.

This was fate.

No matter how stupid it sounded to say.

I’d be stupid then. Sure.

Reaching for my smoothie, I headed towards the coffee table to start on my work for a class I still had to get done, taking a sip and glancing back down at my phone that still hadn’t rung.

Yet.

Oh yeah. I couldn’t wait to see his face when he shoved his foot so far up his ass, he was going to have a lot of courting to do of his own.

I was sure of it.

Chapter

Ten

JACOB

Iwasn’t going to lie. I did feel a little stalker-ish. But really, was it considered stalking when you were attempting to see your mate? Yourfatedmate?

I’m pretty sure I could make my case.

I’m also pretty sure that most stalkers didn’t make sure that she saw me around campus whenever possible. When she was heading out from the library, I was finishing up my tutoring session a few minutes prior. When I came out of the gym and noticed her one class letting out two buildings over. When she saw me before I saw her.

According to her blush as she stormed away, I wasn’t the only one who wanted to see the other.

She was just so stubborn.

Which was why I now stood outside of her building after my class let out. It was better this way so that I wasn’t completely sweaty and disgusting after practice. I hated to think that I wasn’t putting in the effort to win over my omega.

I needed to make her mine, even if it took a little sway her. I’d make it happen. Flowers? Sure. Chocolate? Hell, yeah. Cute little dates if she ever considered spending more than thirty secondsin front of me again since she found out exactly what she meant to me and the rest of my pack?

Needed to make that happen.

When she finally walked out of the building, it was with a beta, hanging onto her arm.

“Ooh, look who’s here,” the beta smiled, directing her friend’s body towards me.

I grinned at the two of them, glancing towards Vera who looked in the other direction, unamused. Though her cheeks were still stained pink. “So, you talk about me?”

Her friend smirked. “Only about every other minute.”

A thrill traveled straight into my chest.

My mate was talking about me.
