“I live to serve my omega.” Leeson laughed, but something strong pulled in my stomach at the words.

It felt like my entire body might’ve just broken out in a flush.

We ate our grilled cheese. Both of us seemed to devour them in record time, and it was a good grilled cheese. The crust was just crisp. He hadn’t asked, but if he did I could always seem to put off that skating was hungry work. “Did you want to watch a movie for a little while?”

I looked back at the door. I could easily leave now. I’m sure Leeson wouldn’t stop me. Of course, he wouldn’t. I didn’t move towards the door though. I took another step to the couch.

Leeson followed my lead. I stood in front of the blue couch for a moment, looking down at it. Before I could decide where exactly to sit, Leeson rounded me. He flopped back onto the corner cushion before reaching for the blanket tossed over the backrest.

Leeson smiled up at me. “Sit with me?”

Carefully, I sat down next to him, not wanting to fall into him—he pulled me back against him and I made a short squeak of a sound.

“You okay?” he asked.

“Mhm.” My heart might give out, but otherwise, I was… great.

Another grin. “Good.”

Lifting the blanket, he shook it once until it unraveled to its full size. The gentle weight of it settled over the top of our legs. Immediately, I wanted to gasp but held it in at the scents of all three of the alphas mixed.

Caramel and spice and apples and sweet, sweet sugar.

Of course, they all used the blanket on the back of the couch.

I gripped the blanket tight in my hands until they were nearly fists, lifting the edge and taking a deep breath.

“That good, huh?”

I startled. “Oh. I uh…”

Leeson shook his head. “Sniff away. Seriously. It’s kind of boosting my ego though that you like our scents, especially mine. Might want to be careful just how big you inflate that thing.”

“I thought it was Jacob we needed to watch out for.”

“Ha! I’m going to tell him you said that.”

“Don’t.”

“Why not?” Leeson asked. “He’ll think it’s hilarious. Silas would probably die of laughter if he heard it.”

“Silas,” I repeated the name. “Is there a reason that he um… that he hasn’t come around?”

Leeson paused. “He just hasn’t met you yet is all.”

Right. That made sense. A few days ago I didn’t want to meet him either. “I don’t want them to think that I am making fun of them.”

“They won’t,” said Leeson. “Trust me. We mess around with each other all the time. But I won’t if you don’t want me to. Okay?”

“Okay,” I said. “Sorry, I’m just… not used to it.”

“Used to what?”

“Being around people so much. Having to worry about other people and what they might think like…”Like friends.

Leeson took a deep breath as if he could fully understand me in only a look. “Why not? You’re kind and funny. I would’ve thought you had a lot of friends on campus or maybe joined a sorority.”

“No sorority wants an omega.”
