The thought must’ve been written on my face.

“He’ll be right where my son and Jacob are though in no time. I promise. He is just messing it up royally right now. Don’t worry. He and I? We’ve been due for a chat and I have a feeling that this is going to be it.”

I could only imagine how that chat Claudia had in mind was going to go. “You can’t promise that.”

“I shouldn’t,” she agreed. “But I will. I also plan on helping you to starve off this heat for as long as you need or can, understand?”

“You can do that?”

“There are tricks. They don’t always work, but we can certainly try. Your heat and what you need as an omega is never something you should be shamed for.”

“Mrs. Padderson,” I began after a quiet moment.

She looked at me. “Claudia.”

“Claudia. I um, I don’t know if it is going to work out. I don’t know if I can even be an omega enough, let alone the one omega for them. I don’t know if I ever can be?—”

She hushed me quietly as tears started to line my eyes.

My body was a cloud of emotion and hormones.

Standing up, before I realized what was happening, I was being settled between Jacob and Leeson on the couch Claudia vacated.

Leeson pulled me against his chest. They were so warm and smelled so good, that I almost drifted back off immediately. They treated me like I was sick or wasn’t feeling well, which I suppose wasn’t completely far off from the truth.

I sniffed.

“Are you doing all right?”

“Uh-huh.” I looked between the two of them.

“We understand if you… if you need time,” said Jacob.

I stared at them.

Did they need time?

No, of course not. I shoved the intrusive, worrying thought away.

“I think… I think I’m ready to start being an omega. I want to be courted and I want to be your omega. Pack Grim’s omega,” I continued to try to clarify even as their expressions brightened with something like joy or relief. “I want to try.”

“You’ve always been an omega, sweetness. But yeah, we can do that.” The corner of Jacob’s mouth curled up in a smile.

Chapter

Twenty-Three

VERA

For the first time, I stayed the night after being doted on by Leeson and Jacob on an entirely new level. I didn’t realize they could care about me more than they were already showing, but it turned out it was possible. When Claudia realized that we were settled and I was no longer about to fall into another omega fit, she headed out, leaving me with her number and promise to check in soon.

“I’m just thrilled I’m going to have a daughter,” she nearly squealed.

The next morning, I woke up in Leeson’s bed surrounded by both of my alphas, neither of them wanting to leave me alone until we had to. I couldn’t miss any more classes and I was certain Shelby was going to start worrying.

Or rather coming up with even more jokes to tease me about when I got home.

“Don’t worry.” Silas stepped in by the time I was ready to go. Jacob was already getting dressed, but when I came out of the hall, Leeson and Silas were already bickering about who was going to take me back to campus.
