“Ah,” I agreed.
“She doesn’t know about us?”
“I mentioned you once on the phone,” I mumbled to him.
“But she doesn’t know that we’re…”
“Alphas?” I cringed. “No.”
He nodded. “Ah.”
“I’m sorry.”
“It’s fine.”
“It isn’t,” I said. “I can tell that it isn’t.”
“I get it if you don’t want to tell your mom about us or if you’re not ready. I know you are still on the fence about everything since what happened last weekend with Silas.”
But I didn’t want to be. I wanted to throw myself off whatever metaphorical fence this was and leap into Leeson’s arms right now. It was extra hard when he pushed over another slice of cinnamon toast. It smelled a little like him. I peeked up at him. “I’m not.”
“You’re not?” Hope coated his voice as he held me.
“I just don’t want to see her look at me like that,” I whispered.
“Like what?”
“Like I’m…” He waited for me to continue. I sighed. “Like I’m an omega.”
“She does know you’re an omega, right?”
“Of course, I just mean… she never really liked… she never quite understood…”
“Are you telling me that your mom doesn’t like that you’re an omega?”
“I’m telling you that she never liked omegas at all. But I love her, and she loves her daughter and I know that is true no matter what,” I said, trying to save ground here. “But if she sees me now, I can’t help but think that it will finally sink in just how much of a disappointment I’ve been to her.”
“Well, I’ll support you no matter what happens, and I’d love to meet her anyway. But we will do whatever you are comfortable with. Right?”
“You’re…”
“What?”
“Being way too nice to me.”
“Am not,” he chuckled, holding me.
“What about Silas in all of this supportive scenario you already have going?”
“He’ll come around.” It was practically the pack motto at this point. “I thought I saw you two getting a little closer.”
My entire face heated.
“Ah,” Leeson chuckled.
“You’re not mad I didn’t tell you.”
He shook his head. “Like I said, he’ll come around. I’d be happy if it is sooner rather than later and by the sounds of it.”
