Page 80 of Knot for You

This was it. I didn’t even get to decide how my mother was going to find out that her daughter was now a knot monster. I blushed at the word in my head.

She was going to be able to tell if not from my messy hair from the fact that over the past few days, I had been practically living in these alpha’s scent.

My omega hummed in pleasure in the back of my hindbrain.

I growled.

“I got you, sweetness. Let me find my pants and I’ll take you back to campus. Okay?”

“Please, hurry. She’ll probably get here sooner. Where is my phone?” Leeson tossed it from where it sat on the edge of thenightstand. My mother messaged me about an hour ago saying that she was on her way.

At least that meant that I still had a little time.

“Okay. Okay.”

“Calm down, Vera. Deep breaths.”

Though I hated that statement, I followed the instructions. By the time I took three more deep breaths, Jacob was back in the door and Leeson was standing directly in front of me. “Good. Now relax. Go back to your place, take a shower, and get ready for your mom. We’ll see you at the game this afternoon, right?”

Leaning down, Leeson waited for me to arch up onto my toes for a chaste kiss.

He hummed. “Don’t stress. I know, easy for me to say.”

At least he knew. I patted him on the chest before walking into the hall.

“Ready?” asked Jacob.

The drive back to campus was relatively speedy. I had to hand it to Jacob. He didn’t mess around at the stop signs or pause before honking at college students who thought it was funny to walk into the middle of the road under the false hope that if they got hit they wouldn’t have to pay their tuition that semester.

“Are you nervous because…” Jacob drifted off as he looked at me. “Did you decide? Are you going to tell your mom about everything?”

“I don’t know,” I said, glancing at him out of the corner of my eye from where I sat in the passenger seat. “Maybe. I think I want to.”

Jacob’s hesitant smile turned into an all-out grin. “Seems official now. If I get to meet the parents and all that.”

“Just parent,” I corrected him.

“The same if they are important to you.”

I glanced at him. Jacob was always joking and trying to make me smile. Now, however, he was sincere and quiet. All this time, I was worried about what being a scent match meant for me. Besides Silas constantly berating me with the fact that I infiltrated his pack and wasn’t looking for an omega to begin with, I hadn’t thought about what my walking into their lives meant for them all, especially Jacob who looked at me with something that could only be described as resonance.

“Jacob…”

“Are you going to get all mushy on me?”

I blinked. “Yeah.”

He smiled wider. “Save it for Lee. He’ll eat it up.”

“Even if I want to tell you that I am more than grateful for you? That I never imagined that I would ever be just an omega who was able to experience love let alone have an alpha who looks at me with such care and like they…”

“Love you?”

All the breath left my lungs as Jacob parked the car against the curb for me to get out to my dorm. I was almost so taken by his words that I didn’t want to move. “I nodded.”

“I do, in case you didn’t realize that by now. Kind of the thing with scent matches, but the more I get to know you, Vera, the more I love every part of you. Silas will come around eventually.”

“That’s what Leeson said.”
