“We’ll make it good for you. You need it with your heat coming up. Don’t you baby?”

This was it. I was going to be raped right here. I heard all the horror stories about omegas going to college the way I did. It never ended well. Either they failed out or… or….

“Back the fuck off her,” a voice roared in front of me, shoving one of Brian’s friends to the side.

No, that was a bark. A full alpha bark.

Quickly, I stepped back, trying to follow the direct order that an omega and most betas could never ignore when directed at them. The guy who worked out enough to make even my eyes widen about what would happen if this came to a fight, yelled at Brian and his crew again.

This time, the hand let go of me. Tripping over my own feet, I fell onto my butt, trying to steady myself on the ground before I rolled backward from the force.

“What the hell is wrong with you? You assholes. Leave her alone.”

“Of fucking course,” one of the other guys muttered. My head was still spinning though as they turned back to the house, leaving me with my strange rescuer.

“If I see any of you knew this girl again, I am going to fucking report you. You’re lucky I don’t call the police on you guys. I think they’d all be too happy to come and shut this shithole down once and for all and then you’ll be the ones to tell your frat that you did it.”

Brian sputtered as they all turned away, kicking their feet with loud mutters.

All that mattered was they were gone.

They were leaving.

However, that still left me with…

“Th—” I was about to thank the guy. The man who saved me, when I paused.

My eyes caught on the broad build of the man in front of me. He wasn’t as tall as some of the others, but his presence as he turned around and scanned me as if to make sure I wasn’t hurt was all right there in front of me.

Encompassing.

That was the word I was looking for.

Dressed like most of the guys on campus, he at least looked slightly more put together with jeans that hugged his thighs and a button-down completely unbuttoned to reveal a white t-shirt underneath. His dark hair curled around his ears. When his eyes lifted, they bulldozed into me with a bright, striking blue.

I might’ve gasped.

I probably gasped a lot louder than I thought I did in my head.

Oh my god. Oh my god.Oh my god.

My omega was screeched loud enough in my head to blow an eardrum. The excitement brewing inside of me from her was just like how she did the other day on the quad after that other alpha knocked into me. Because this guy who just saved me from Brian and his stupid friends was most definitely an alpha. And he smelled like caramels and the most delicious pumpkin spice latte.

I want to drink him down.

Chapter

Three

VERA

Startled, I turned on my heel. I ran along the sidewalk. Away from him.

Why was I running away from him?

I couldn’t do this. I couldn’t comprehend this (whatever this was). I needed to get home and get safe away from this stupid party Shelby dragged me to.

Now.
