VERA

There was movement all around me. I looked towards the doorway of the locker room, out in the open, where anyone could see me.

I whimpered.

“What are you thinking, doing this with her in here?” Silas asked. “She’s perfuming all over the place.”

“You come down here when she was in the start of a heat and tell me what you would’ve done when she was basically about to collapse from pain,” challenged Jacob.

Silas peered between us, staring at the tenseness of my body.

“I’m sorry,” I whispered.

His eyes widened in stark gray. “You have nothing to be sorry for.” His hands reached out for me.

Seeming to sense what was about to happen, Jacob didn’t put up a fight. He transferred me out of his arms and to Silas’. The two of them made quick work to pull my pants back up, but luckily didn’t button them. I panted at the friction created between my thighs. The fabric was not quite soft enough to be comfortable, but still all too much after I just came from Jacob.

I sniffed.

“It’s okay, omega. Don’t you worry.”

“What’s going on?” The thick scent of apple pie came in and my eyes widened.

“Leeson,” I cried.

“Lee, pull the car around,” Silas ordered, holding me tight as if a sudden flight risk.

Maybe I was, wanting to rush into Leeson’s arms. Even if I was rather comfortable right where I was, sucking in the almost another wonderful scent of brown butter and Silas.

“How in the world do you smell so sweet when you are so bossy?”

Jacob barked a laugh next to me.

“What?” I asked, my mind not catching up with what was happening as more people tried to move. There was yelling and everything as my stomach started with a fresh wave of cramps. My brain remained stuck in the heat of what was happening. All that mattered was the fact that my alphas were here.

My alphas.

I had my alphas. My alphas were going to take care of me now.

I could relax. I made it.

“That’s right, omega,” Silas murmured as he ran his hand up and down my back. “You don’t have to worry about anything. We’ll take care of you.”

A loud, gritty voice cut through his reassurances. “It’s halftime!”

“They’ll know what they’ll be getting into with a pack on their team,” said Silas with zero remorse. I was already scooped up into his arms, tight against his chest. He might’ve been disgusting with sweat, but damn, he smelled like the best thing I ever held in my entire life right now.

I gripped the loose fabric of his damp jersey, tucking my face into the side of his neck. I could feel his heartbeat growing fast.

“Seriously?” the coach asked.

Jacob came up beside me. Through blurry eyes, he already had two bags pulled over his shoulders. “We got you, sweetness.”

“Get out of here,” the coach sighed. “I’ll make sure that they are there to watch the home game. You’re all lucky that you guys are already too good to lose at this point.”

“Thanks, coach,” Jacob said, shoving past other players that were staring at us.

Why were they staring at us? I closed my eyes and a frightened whimper escaped.
