One thing was certain. I figured out I was in the Luminara Coven, and they saved me last night from what could have been my tragic death. I still had so many unanswered questions. Why had my mother left the coven? Why I had been raised in multiple foster homes? Where was she, if she was even still alive?

More women were coming out of different rooms, heading in the same direction as the others. I tried talking to them, but they stayed silent, focused on something only they could see. I decided to follow them, hoping to find answers.

The hallway twisted, and I saw more of the strange place I was in. I heard whispers, but I couldn't understand thewords. The women were going to a special room, and I went with them, feeling nervous and curious.

The room was like nothing I'd ever seen, filled with ancient magical symbols. In the center was an altar, lit by moonlight. The women formed a circle, and I joined them. The necklace around my neck glowed, connecting us through some unseen power.

The women started chanting in a language I didn't know so I stayed silent. Their voices mixed, making a sound that felt timeless. I tried to understand, but it was too hard.

As they chanted, the moonlight got stronger, and the symbols on the altar glowed. I felt a rush of memories, thinking about the necklace, the magical place, and the feeling of belonging. It was all connected in that mysterious room.

When the chanting stopped, the room grew quiet. The women looked at me, and it felt like I was home. A place meant for me. For the first time, the voices in my head were silent and everything felt peaceful.

After the ritual, the women went back to the magical cavern of the coven. I stayed in the special room, feeling like I understood something important, a connection that went beyond time and space.

Questions still lingered in my mind, but I felt a renewed sense of purpose, along with a realization that the journey had only just begun. With the moon pendant still resting against my chest, I left the chamber, prepared to embrace the mysteries that awaited me in this enchanted realm.

Coming back from the ritual made me realize one thing: I could be anywhere on this earth, and this place would still feel like home.

I broke from the captivating hold of the room and returned to the cavern, looking for someone to speak to. I needed to find and thankwhoever saved me, and I needed to return to Alexei so he wouldn’t worry about me. We still had more things to figure out.

Aside from the fact that the person who tried to kill me was a police officer, we still needed to determine whether he was working alone, and find his connections if not. Plus, Alexei’s sister was still missing.

As I meandered, a woman approached me with purpose, her eyes holding a glimmer of concern. "Lost, dear?" she inquired, her voice like a soothing melody. I nodded, feeling a sense of gratitude for her timely intervention. She introduced herself as Esmeralda, one of the elders of the coven, and explained that she had been searching for me after the ritual.

"I couldn't find anyone to talk to, so I joined the ritual," I admitted, hoping she wouldn't think poorly of my unintentional intrusion or see my actions as being nosy.

Esmeralda chuckled warmly. "No need to worry, dear. We're all family here, you included. Come, let me take you to the others."

She guided me through the labyrinth. Soon, we entered a spacious room where several women were seated. Their eyes met mine with a mixture of curiosity and recognition.

Esmeralda gestured toward a small group, and my gaze fell upon a woman whose presence resonated with otherworldly grace.

"Selene, I found her. She went for the rituals when she woke up." Esmeralda announced.

Selene turned to face me and recognition shot through me. It was the woman from the park, the same one who told me I was picking the wrong side.

"Evelyn, it's a pleasure to finally meet you. I'm Selene. We didn’t get a chance for a proper introductionthe last time we met."

"You saved me," I blurted out, the realization hitting me like a bolt of lightning. That was the only reasonable explanation for me being here and seeing her.

“No, I didn’t, but another witch did. She’s family, just like you are. You don’t need to thank her, these are things we do for family” Selene replied, and I nodded. I didn’t want to think of the things that could have happened if another witch weren’t following me.

Selene smiled, her eyes holding a depth of wisdom. "We're bound by more than mere fate, Evelyn. There are forces at play, and you play a crucial role in what is to come."

Esmeralda interjected, "You see, Evelyn, the coven has faced challenges since the last war. Our supply of natural magic has been severed. Without it, we are slowly fading away. The only way to restore our powers is through a ritual, one that requires the essence of moonblood witches."

"Your mother started a similar ritual but left it incomplete. She was scared. She was pregnant and thought we would make her an outcast. She moved far away, masking her scent and yours."

Selene nodded solemnly. "She sought to protect you, Evelyn. The ritual, when left unfinished, led to a masking of your true nature. The gemstone you touched in the old coven was a catalyst, a trigger that unveiled your potential. It informed us of your existence, and it gave us another chance to be moonblood witches.”

I processed the information, a whirlwind of emotions swirling within me. "So, what do you need from me? Why am I so essential to your ritual?"

Esmeralda explained, "The ritual requires the combined power of moonblood witches to reawaken the dormant energies within the coven. Without it, the next generation of witches won't survive. We need you to complete what your motherstarted, to ensure the survival of our lineage."

Selene added, "Your mother intended to shield you, but now, you have the opportunity to embrace your destiny willingly. The gemstone connected you to the coven, Evelyn, and now, your presence is integral to our resurgence."

The weight of their words settled upon me, and I felt a sense of responsibility I had never imagined. "What if I refuse?"
