Mi abuela shakes her head, as if she’s not happy about what I said, or maybe it is their actions?

Her reaction is surprising, I expected her to say a little more than that.
“And what do you think,nieto3?” she asks.
“I think I should party and pretend this nightmare isn’t real and then wake up tomorrow and …”
“Go on your honeymoon.”
Did she just say what I think she said?
“What?”
“Yes, you should go on your honeymoon. Teach Leticia some words in Japanese for your deal, and then if things don’t work out after one month, we can figure what to do.”
I shake my head, because she.
“This is what I’m offering you, Diego, if you want to keep your inheritance. One month. And if it doesn’t work out, then you can divorce her.”
I shake my head. “You think you can bribe me with my inheritance? I’ve made billions. I don’t need my inheritance.”
“But you hate being embarrassed. The idea of you being left nothing, of it being given to someone else, will eat at you, even if you don’t need it.”
What did she mean by that? The only person it could go to would be Lucas. Jorge is missing or supposedly dead. Either way, he has been gone for so long the idea of him coming back into our lives after all this time feels near enough impossible.
Then again, maybe she knows something I don’t, which wouldn’t be surprising.
“Do you know something about Jorge?”
She chuckles. “All I know is that we’ve never seen his dead body. Until we do, we cannot assume anything. Now, Diego, you give Leticia one month, and if it doesn’t work out, I’ll sign the divorce papers myself.”
One month is a long time for someone I dread seeing in the morning.

I love mi abuela with all my heart, but at times, her riddles make no sense. What is the difference between wanting and needing. Aren’t they the same thing? Before I’m even able to ask her, she has opened the door and left me alone with my thoughts.

Belén left after her talk with Diego in the room. I watched as she vacated the chambers and then headed down the stairs, and I knew her leaving meant she wasn’t going to the reception.
When his abuela entered the priest’s chambers, I thought that maybe he would call the whole thing off. I didn’t want anyone to see me, especially after what he said about my English. I hate it when he corrects me, but him saying that it is so bad nearly stops me from ever speaking to anyone again.
