Leticia

Ihead into the shower, thinking it would calm my nerves. One minute, Diego holds me as if he has desired me for years, and then he tosses me away like a pet which was bought for Christmas. Now that he’s had his fun with me, he’s bored and wants something new.

I don’t think of myself as the prettiest girl in the room, but I know I’m not exactly ugly, yet why does he make me feel like I’m not even worth his time. He makes me doubt myself, which no man should do. My ex did that when he cheated on me. Every word he spoke left doubts in my mind, and I vowed I wouldn’t let any man make me feel that way, including the one I’m supposedly married to if my name was Belén, which it isn’t. I put things in perspective as I dry myself and then head back into my room.

My stomach growls. I’ve never heard it make such a noise, because it sounds like thunder not a little roar which it normally makes when it growls.

“Put clothes on. Come and eat on the terrace!” Diego demands as he pops his head in for a split second.

By the time I turn around, he’s gone. I grab a towel and try to dry my hair as much as possible. I suppose cutting it means that it doesn’t take that long to dry it, even if I’m still not used to it being so short. I pause, wondering if he’s the only one out there. Maybe he decided to invite the teacher back. I shake my head at the idea. Diego made it very clear that he doesn’t want the teacher back.

I head to the terrace and I’m relieved to see that Diego didn’t invite Hiroshi back.

Phew!

It’s just Diego, I think as I head to the terrace and see him sitting there. I open the terrace door and take my seat.

“I hope you like sushi.”

Cold food?

I want oxo de toro, pollo, bacalao, even if I’m not too keen on fish. Anything but cold rice wrapped up in some black blanket.

I frown as he shifts beside me and takes my chair for me, then motions for me to sit down.

“There’s nothing hot. Just everything’s cold,” I say as I start to shiver, then I regret coming out here with only my towel. As Diego sits opposite me, I can see a smirk on his face.

“Cold?”

Fucking freezing!

“No, I’m fine. I like the cold breeze.”

With my damp hair I’m shivering just thinking about putting what looks like water and cold food in my body and it makes me lose my appetite.

“There are some prawns, dumplings, and ramen if you would prefer that.”

The only thing I hear is, hot, hot, and hot food.

I nod as my teeth start to chatter. He stands up once again with his brows crossed, but then he puts on two heaters, which glow up in the near dark.

“I can’t believe it’s only seven and it’s dark. And it’s raining so much.”

I notice as once again the rain starts. Luckily the terrace is covered so we don't have to worry about getting wet.

“It’s the rainy season. Not the best time to visit here, but it will clear around mid-July,” he says.
