Lucas is right in a way—the idea of marrying Belén seemed easy.

Lucas raises his eyebrows and then takes a deep breath.

“I never thought I would see the day that my little brother would be in love.”

“Love?”

He nods his head. “Only love would make you want to fly out and see the game, and leave Jorge with enough reason to come and take over. He could say that you came back one day and left the next.”

“Fuck that. Now, who is being dramatic? Jorge has been missing for years. I’m going away for a weekend. I shouldn’t even work weekends. I don’t get the fucking point of having billions in the bank and being the CEO if you can’t take the weekend off.”

“Hermano1, you need to let me know what it’s like to be in love. Does your heart flutter when she walks into the room?” He batters his eyelashes and then he makes his fingers into a heart while beating it against his chest.

I have a nagging feeling that he’s right, everything I’ve been doing lately is so out of character. Including not working, because I’m worried that what Belén said could be true, and if Leticia confirms it, I won’t be able to handle it.

Did she really marry me out of some twisted trick that she plays with her sister?

Is this the reason she refused to say why she married me?

“You’ve been in love before. Don’t get me started on Daniela.”

He shakes his head as I remind him about his childhood sweetheart that left him for another.

I need to watch the match, because I’m trying to wind my brother up.

I swiftly change the topic, as the mood shifts from one of playfulness to one of darkness.

“We need to eat too much and drink even more.”

A cold shiver makes me shake at the idea of not going home to see Leticia’s warm eyes light up as I enter the room.

I dismiss it out of my head. Nothing good has come out of fake marrying Leticia, nor staying with her.

“Let’s get out of here,” I say as I pack up and get ready to leave the office.

“You need to speak to Leticia.”

I head to the door, my phone stops ringing and then Lucas’s starts.

“Shit, Leticia is blowing off my phone,” Lucas says. He shows the messages that she has sent to him. “Why won’t you talk to her?” Lucas asks as we get in the elevator.

“Hand me your phone.”

He gives it to me, and then I send her a message from it.

Leave Lucas alone. If you want to talk to me, then just call or send me a message.

I’ve been doing that, Diego, and all you do is send emojis. Since when do you send emojis?

Since, I’m busy and cannot talk.

Oh, but you have time to be sending messages from Lucas’s phone.

I pause, thinking she’s right, but I’m not about to back down now. We leave the elevator and then walk into the parking lot, and head to the car. I hand Lucas back his phone.

“This is silly, we both know it. Just talk to her.”

I call Leticia, but I know the phone call isn’t going to be a good one, it never is, especially when she’s shown that she’s already in a mood.
