Garth was offering me a completely different life. I was going to be an emissary between the Pandraxians and the humans, at least for now until they could find somebody more suitable. Still, what an adventure!

Those were all the practical things running through my mind, but there was another side, one that wanted to getto know Garth better, that craved his company and was slowly falling for the handsome lord protector.

Slowly, I shook my head. Slowly, his lips curved up.

"I don't think… I want to go back to Earth," I admitted.

"Good, it's settled then." He was about to turn to continue our walk back to our quarters.

"Wait." I stopped him by his lapel. "What is settled?"

Languidly the right side of his mouth lifted, a little fold appeared between his lips and cheek, an arrogant line that arched his eyebrow up. "That you're mine."

I remembered something that happened while we had sex a few days ago and heat rose into my cheeks. MINE, he had growled. Yours, I had said.

"And what does that exactly mean, 'I am yours'?" I wanted to know.

"Can we continue this conversation in our quarters?" he demanded.

I shook my head.

His arm snaked around my waist. "It means that you are mine to protect."

My heart rate picked up.

"You are mine to nourish." He pulled me flush against his chest.

Aflutter moved through my stomach.

"Mine to satisfy." His lips brushed against my ear and temple.

My knees weakened when I remembered just how well he could do that.

"Mine to provide for." His breath stroked my face.

My clit was beginning to pulse. His voice was so deep, it reverberated inside my soul.

"Mine to make happy." His lips were only inches from my lips.

"Mine to fill with my younglings." His mouth claimed mine and a wave of dizziness overcame me as I clung to him.

I was sure I must have died and gone to heaven. Had there ever been a better man? I didn't think I could have made one up if somebody had given me a pen and paper and told me to write down what I wanted in a man.

When he let go of me I was breathless and stared at him open-mouthed.

The arrogant sneer around his mouth deepened, damn him, but he knew exactly what he was doing to me. "Does that meet your criteria for a mate?"

Mate?

Dimly I nodded.

"Good, it's settled then." He nodded.

I shook myself. "Wait, did you just ask me to marryyou?"

I didn't think it would have been possible for his sneer to deepen, but it did. "Iofferedto marry you as you call it, vra."

"Did you now?" I couldn't help but retort. He made it easy to flirt with him and call him out at the same time.
