"I'm glad Ashley found you," I said.

"She is amazing." Lisa nodded.

"Will they live with us in the palace?" Kevin asked Garth, staring at him with unveiled hero worship.

"The palace?" Lisa parroted.

"Garth is the lord protector of Astrionis," I explained, still a bit shy about flaunting my mate's title and incidentally mine, but I didn't want Kevin's parents to feel embarrassed over something they couldn't know.

"Oh my." Lisa's hand moved to her chest as she stared in awe at Garth.

"They can stay wherever they want, but for now I suggest they stay with us until they decide where they want to live and how they will fit into our community," Garth declared. "Go ahead, show them your room and I will have Doth later assign you some larger accommodations."

Holding hands and with light, happy hearts, Garth and I watched Kevin lead his parents to the palace.

I tugged Garth a little away from the transporter where people were returning to unloading and welcoming the new arrivals.

"I have to tell you something too," I told him when we were well out of earshot and out of sight.

"Something good I hope." Garth grinned, before he tilted his head. "Knowing it is going to be good though."

I ignored his words and dove right in. "You have been so good to Kevin, like a father."

"In a way he feels like a son to me, too," Garth confessed.

"Which is why I have decided to gift you with a son of your own." I told him the secret I had been keeping for a fewdays until I had been absolutely sure. Which hadn't been easy. I had wanted to share the news with him ever since I found out from the healer. But the healer had used a silver spoon dunked in my urine to diagnose my pregnancy which I didn't fully trust. So I waited until an opportunity arose a couple of days ago when I had to visit theVyperfor a comm from Ashley to visit Moloch and have my condition medically confirmed.

After that, I had been waiting for the right moment, which seemed to be now.

"What are you saying? Are you saying you want to try to get pregnant or—"

"Too late for that." I grinned at him.

"You're pregnant?" he asked.

"With our son?" he confirmed.

Pandraxian technology is amazing. As much as a good half of the empire lived in the dark ages, their advancements outweighed everything I had known on Earth. Moloch had been able to not only confirm my pregnancy, but pinpoint the exact date of conception. He had also been able to tell the baby's sex even at only a few weeks pregnant. Which was male.

"Pregnant," I confirmed. "With a son."

"Silla!" He pulled me up and twirled me in a circle. "Thatis… amazing. Thank you."

"Well, you had some part in it." I beamed at him.

"I did, didn't I?" He was returning more to his arrogant lord protector self.

I nodded. "I love you."

"I love you more," he said.
