A sudden sparkle passed through Edward's eyes, and to our surprise, he spoke up.

"The library?" he asked with unexpected enthusiasm in his voice. "I can very happily show you the way there. Which department do you need?"

"Religion, myths, and legends," Aspasia explained, "Do you know anything about those areas?"

"I wrote my bachelor's thesis on myths and legends, and the subject ofreligionsis a hobby of mine." I had never heard him speak so many words. The change this subject had on his appearance as well was almost overwhelming. The quiet, sullen Edward became an open, lively young man. Was this the real Edward, who usually lay dormant in his softcore, waiting for someone to say the words library, religion, myths, and legends and then come to light?

"Well, it seems we have an expert on our hands here," laughed Aspasia, who was also slightly surprised by this outburst.

"What do you need?" the literature student asked, hardly contained in his eagerness.

"We don't really know," the Amazon admitted contritely. "We are looking for some answers that might be found in ancient religions and stories. Let's ponder them together in your quarters in a moment."

"Do you have any suspicions about why the women are being kidnapped?" I interjected hopefully.

"No, we don't know anything concrete yet, but we're hoping to discover a lead in the books," Maggy now interjected. "But let's discuss all this elsewhere and not in these tunnels. It doesn't seem to me the safest place for secrets." Furtively, she looked around. She was right. Who knew who might be in the other corridors?

"Well, come on, ladies!" Alex went ahead into the tunnel from which they had just come.

Not twenty minutes later, we were standing in front of the training room door. Even Edward, whose enthusiasm had superseded his fears, had followed without a hitch this time. His head, I believed, was already hanging in the books.

Chris unlocked the wooden door, and the two women entered the room behind him.

"Not bad," Maggy praised approvingly as she surveyed the training equipment and weapons. "Which one of you is the weapons expert?"

Jack raised his hand. "That's me. Archery and swords are my specialty."

"Then let's see how good your skills are!" the Amazon challenged him. Jack's excitement at this challenge was evident on his face. The two of them each chose a sword, and shortly after that, the thuds of metal on metal rang out.

The rest of us sat down at the large table, with Alex's attention focused more on the two fighters than on our meeting.

"Yesterday, we were thinking about where the abducted women might have been taken, and another thought occurred to me," Aspasia said, addressing me. "Perhaps we first need to find out why the women are being abducted in the first place to better understand what is happening to them. That, in turn, would then surely lead us to our goal."

"And what about the ports and the museum ship?" I asked, wondering if that was the best way to find the disappeared. "Wouldn't it be better to split the work and consider both simultaneously?"

"So, you mean one squad is searching for an answer to thewhy, and the other squad is looking around the ports and this ship?" The Amazon paused for a moment before her face brightened.

"Good idea. That way, we won't waste any time either. Maggy and I will set up a grouping later."

"Now, what exactly is the question to be answered?" asked Edward impatiently.

"Why the women are kidnapped in the first place, of course. Why are the Knights of the Seals doing this, and what is their benefit from it," I explained to him.

The student examined me thoughtfully.

"And you think you can find the answer to that in the Bible?" There was clear doubt in Chris' gaze.

"The Brotherhood has always justified its actions in connection with this book. So, it must involve either a passage from the Bible or some other religious text."

"Then the first thing we should do is look at women from the Scriptures. Eve would start there," Edward reflected excitedly. "I'll bring some books on the subject to the next meeting."

"And I can contribute the Bible from the altar. It is the version the Brotherhood venerates as the only true one," my brother added.

"You guys are great!" Aspasia nodded at me. "It was a good idea to let us all work together."

Full of energy, she stood up and held her hand in the middle of the tabletop.

"Tomorrow, we will meet again. Then, we will find answers that will help us free the innocent women! We will take our fate into our own hands!"
