I trusted my animal companion, closed my eyes, and connected with my surroundings. The warmth of the sun, the gentle rustle of sunflowers, the buzz of bees, and the smell of rain that would soon manifest itself. Above us flew an eagle, and the morning dew, which had not yet dried completely, hung heavy in the air.

I soaked every detail, feeling it tingle through my veins, making my magic shine deep inside.

Suddenly, my horse whinnied and shot off into the fields without my intervention. Yellow sunflower blossoms buzzed through the air, and I clung to the reins.

"Andalius!" I shouted over the whipping of the wind, which changed from a slight breeze to a storm out of nowhere. "Andalius! Stop!"

But Andalius galloped on through the field in a panic. The sun disappeared behind gray clouds, the first raindrops wetted my face, and thunder rumbled through the sky.

Surprised, I looked up. What was brewing above me was no ordinary storm. This clearly bore the signature of magic. Black magic.

Somehow, I had to calm my horse and lead him out of the open field before the first lightning flashed on the horizon.

Again, I tugged at the reins, but Andalius continued to run straight ahead, undeterred, where the edge of a cliff was now visible. By now, my heart was racing. My last option would be to fall into the sunflowers, but I didn't want to abandon my companion. I knew from experience that my magic would not be able to help me either. It was powerless against the black forces.

Surprisingly, another horse appeared next to me. Its rider, a man with blond hair, smiled kindly at me.

"Can I be of service, my Lady?"

“I would be much obliged to you!” I called out to him. “The storm frightens my horse.”

Without hesitation, he grabbed my reins, and in the next moment, we changed our direction. Not far from me, I could clearly see the ravine into which at least Andalius would have fallen.

I breathed a sigh of relief because a small forest appeared before us. The first flash of lightning illuminated the already jet-black sky above us; haste was called for.

Just as the downpour began, we rode under the sheltering trees. We changed into a light trot, and almost as if the blond stranger had known this, a cave appeared between the tree trunks, big enough for the horses and us.

We quickly dismounted and led the animals into the shelter. My dress was so wet the raindrops beaded from the hem. Goosebumps covered my damp skin, which had enjoyed the sun's warmth just a few minutes ago.

"You're cold," my unexpected companion observed. He hurriedly gathered wood and lit a fire, which warmed me up surprisingly quickly. With one look at the blond man, however, I was unsure whether it was because of the flames or because of him that I suddenly felt so hot.

On Avalon, male visitors were a rarity, and love was not intended for its female inhabitants. But my feelings, which first arose a little uncertainly in me, now awakened an inferno I had never felt before. A mixture of longing, passion, and lust.

Unexpectedly, he turned toward me. His caramel-colored eyes shone golden in the glow of the fire. Liquid gold, in which I, Morgan le Fay, threatened to drown.

“What is your name?” I asked in a quivering voice.

"Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Tanael Baldur."
