“That’s biology,” I drawled. “It doesn’t make me your fucking slave for life or whateverownershipyou think you have. That ship sailed, and you missed it because I’m way past eighteen.”

“You can still swear to your bloodline.”

“I’d rather die.”

“I can make you wish for it if you don’t behave,” she reminded me.

“I’m not that child anymore, and if you think no one will care, Thora and several others will not let this go.”

“This is a family matter,” she sneered. “They are weak light witches.”

I threw back my head and laughed so hard it almost hurt.

“I’ve spent time with Thora and she drowns your power. You’re afractionof her true power.” I smirked at her. “And givenI’mthe one who helps witches stay hidden on both sides, your own people will throw a fit if their little techie problem solver goes missing.”

“Well, well, well, you really have grown up, baby doll,” Randy purred.

I bit back a shiver and ignored him, focused only on my mother, smirking when I saw the shock again.

“It waslotsof fun turning down your requests for help, watching you offer more and more money. Dad threatening to come find me and make me do what you wanted. Maybe you shouldn’t have been such a fucking bitch and tortured your daughter.”

“We called Amelia,” Jackson told me as he moved up next to me.

“My, my, my, Daughter—triplets?” Mother gleefully sang. “Oh, the power you will wield with them for me.”

“Hey, we had a deal,” Randy snapped, the others echoing him.

“I told you to run,” I hissed at the three of them.

“Not going to happen, sparkles,” he grumbled, Jared and Jesse echoing him. “Amelia and probably several others now know you came here for Larissa. Amelia said Larissa has a tracker and locator charm that Thora and several others can tap into any time they want.”

Mother waved the worry away like a fly. “That can easily be seared off. Besides, I think my council will approve the move when they learn you come with triplet familiars and my daughter is the magical genius who can use technology to protect any and everything we want to do.”

Oh fuck. So that backfired… Bigtime.

I tried to act like what she said didn’t scare me, but I froze until my dad took a step forward. I pushed magic into the ground that was now my land and wrapped vines with thick thorns around his legs.

“You stay over there where I know your incestuous thoughts and desires won’t come near me.”

“Let us help. Take energy from us or whatever,” Jesse begged me.

I wasn’t sure how to do that when they weren’t bonded familiars, but I felt them all agree, and power flared in what was probably a temporary agreement like Briony did contracts. I smirked when Mother felt it, flinching.

She lifted her hands and I focused, putting up my barrier, not just around me this time, but all four of us. In the same breath, I threw power into the ground to capture the other three men in the same trap my dad was stuck in.

“We have been waiting twenty years to claim you as ours,” Randy shouted, fighting against the vines. “All of you belongs to us, every inch, and if they’ve tasted any of you before us, I will slice them for you to watch once you’re back in your chains, Larissa.”

“Never!” I screamed, power flaring deeper from me.

Mother attacked at the same time, throwing everything she had into taking down my barrier.

I held it and attacked her through Dad, sending malice into the vines. They screamed as what seemed to be acid coming from the thorns burned them.

“I will kill you and take those triplets as mine,” Mother sneered, her true form coming out as she stopped using magic to make herself pretty. Instead, the evil shined through and twisted her up.

“We’re with you, nugget,” Jared whispered as I felt three hands touching my back.

I nodded and stepped out of the barrier, keeping them protected behind it as I stormed forward to meet my mother head-on.
