She shook her head. “I really don’t deserve any of you. I’m not even sure I noticed that, but you’re absolutely right that I do.”

“You notice a lot of what we need, sparkles. It’s why we love you.”

I felt her pure joy at what I said and realized this sharing feelings through the bond was going to be a blessing as much as it would take some getting used to. I hurried to get dressed and made coffee before sitting on one of the folding chairs.

She came strolling in a bit later, giving Jesse a good morning kiss before coming over and plopping right on my lap.

She kissed me and nuzzled my neck before teasing my ear. “I ache deep inside of me, and all I want to do is go back to bed and beg you to make me ache more, my familiar. Do you want your witch again? Do you want to fuck this pussy that’s yours?”

“Holyshit, that’s hot,” Jared groaned as he moved up next to us. “That was some bonding.”

“Yeah, we got like a shot of horny, happy hormones, plus I can feel what he does and he wants to fuck me,” she admitted, her cheeks completely flushed.

“Shit, I didn’t even realize that’s where my mind went, but you walked in with your sexy legs showing, and all I could think about was spreading them.” I shook my head. “I hate to say this, but I don’t think you can bond with us all in a row, sparkles. I think you’d jump out of your skin with all our feelings. It’s an adjustment with just us.”

She worried her lower lip, glancing from Jared to Jesse. “I think he’s right. I mean, I want to. Ireallywant to. I want that with both of you—”

“Being safer is more important than rushing,” Jesse agreed.

Even Jared nodded with a sigh.

Her phone rang and she slid off my lap to answer it, frowning at the display. “Hello?” Her eyes went wide, but then she hurried to hang it up.

“Who was it?” Jared asked.

“A reporter,” she whispered, staring at the phone like it was a snake. “They wanted me to comment on the news of my mother’s death.”

I gasped as thick, dark rage flooded me. She shot me a worried look and I just winked at her. “I knew you had a temper, sparkles. I think it’s sexy.”

She nodded she heard me. “The police didn’t even have it yet. It’s that fucking publicist. I bet she’s pissed Meave’s attorneys issued a statement before she got a chance to spin it however.” I felt a thrill of her fear. “I hope they didn’t give her my address too or we have problems.”

“I would think Meave’s people were smarter than that,” I muttered. “It would make sense the publicists could call you, but you were clear you wanted this address confidential and they’d get that.”

“Call and check just in case and warn them what’s going on,” Jesse suggested.

She nodded and started making more calls, and I decided to take my role of being her familiar and partner seriously, pulling up the contact she’d given me when we’d been talking about expanding. I connected the call and went out outside so I didn’t bother Larissa.

“Hello?” a man answered.

“Hi, is this either Theo or Levi? I’m Jackson Baker, Larissa Carter’s partner. She gave me this number to speak with a Briony?”

“I’m Theo,” he said after a moment. “Why isn’t Larissa calling herself?”

I knew it was a test, but I wasn’t sure how to handle that. “We bonded officially last night and I want to support her.” I blew out a slow breath when he didn’t reply. “I believe Briony knows the situation with Larissa’s mother, but the police came and notified us that she had died. There’s a mess and I’m worried about her safety. She’s going to have twenty million things going on, but I promised to protect her.”

There was some muttering on the other end and then what sounded like shuffling.

“Why are you worried for her safety?” a woman demanded. I quickly filled her in with what I knew. “And while she’s busy, you called me?”

“I apologize if I’m skipping steps, but I want to start getting a fence up. Aspecialfence she mentioned, the wood would come from you and would need power to be activated? And she wanted to talk about totems that she could fill and Thora could handle in trade?” I let out another slow breath when she didn’t reply. “I just want to help. I’m supposed to protect her now and I thought I could make this call.”

“Ah, to be so young,” she chuckled. “I’ll get the details from Larissa when things calm down, but the shock and hesitation is she didn’t mention any plans to bond soon last we talked. I thought you were Amelia’s triplets.”

“She helped us but no, we’re not hers, just the ones that did work at her place. We’re Larissa’s. Or I am and the others soon, but I don’t think it wise she take on all our emotions so fast.”

“Smart, yes, even with a temporary contract and bond, two is a bit much.” She was quiet a moment and then there was shuffling. “How big of an area are we talking about fencing?”

“A thousand acres, but to start I just want around the house and a gate out to the groves or additional land. I got the impression the protection was built upon.”
