She had thick, gorgeous, raven hair that shined in the moonlight down to her pert ass. She walked out into the backyard and turned her face up to the moon like most did when soaking up the sun on a beach.

Her smile was slow to grow but then wide and beaming.

I didn’t even realize I’d stood until I was setting down my beer and stepping towards her, needing to be closer to her.

And that was before she took off the hooded cloak and let it fall to the ground, standing naked to the night. She stretched like a sexy kitten who was enjoying being free instead of hiding or cramped.

A giggle slipped out of her plump lips, echoing in the quiet night as she spread her arms and spun around, humming something to herself.

The moonlight caught something on her body and it gave this weird effect. At first, I thought it was sparkles and Jackson was right with that nickname, but then I realized they were in lines.

She had glowing lines all over her body that made her shine brighter than that guy from theTwilightmovie.

“She’s humming ‘Walk Me Home’ by Pink and doing part of the dance,” Jared muttered from next to me. “What is all over her body?”

“And why hide them like she’s ashamed?” Jackson added from my other side.

Apparently, I wasn’t the only one unable to not be closer to her. We carefully moved forward not to scare her, but just needing to be closer.

She yelped when she spun around and I was almost in front of her. Her eyes went wide as she covered her body… But not her intimate parts, but as many of the marks as she could. “What are you doing here?”

“We were sitting outside our trailer,” I admitted, reaching out and touching her hair. She flinched but didn’t pull away, staring up into my eyes, hers bright silver with magic. “Why do you hide when you’re so fucking gorgeous, kitten?”

Pain, deeppain, flourished as her face fell and she ducked her head. “You don’t know what these are, do you?”

“No, but they’re pretty.”

She took a step back, sniffling. “They’re only pretty under the full moon because they’re magic. They’re magical scars and I didn’t give them to myself.”

“I’m sorry,” I whispered, reaching for her again. “I’m sorry we startled you. We thought you knew we were here.”

She shook her head. “I didn’t think about it or where you were staying. Sorry.”

“No, it’s your land and we can go inside,” Jackson offered when she was backing away to her cloak.

That was the right thing to say, but I couldn’t take my eyes off of her firm, round breasts that I ached to hold or her pert ass I wanted to touch all over.

“How come you’re not scarred in certain places?” Jared blurted, and I wanted to smack him for saying that but also glad because I wanted to know too.

She flinched as she squatted down to get her cloak, quickly slipping it on. “They made my mother heal the scars there, otherwise they couldn’t stomach the idea of touching me. Plus, they planned to leave their own marks.”

“Who?” I demanded.

“The men my mother planned to force me to bond with before I was eighteen so I was hers always.” She cleared her throat and held the cloak tightly to her as she refused to look at us. “Goodnight.”

“Night, kitten,” I whispered when she was already darting off. Once she was inside and no longer in view, I glanced at my siblings. “What the actual fuck?”

“I have no idea, but Amelia said she was really badly abused,” Jackson answered. “Obviously not just physically.”

“Obviously not,” Jared agreed.

We finished our beers and went to bed, but I was dying to see her, check on her. So the next morning, I was up and ready to make her breakfast so I could make sure she was okay.

I knocked before letting myself in and found her in what would be the dining room set up at a folding table with a jigsaw puzzle.

“Morning, kitten.” She didn’t answer or even react, and I worried she was upset with us, swallowing loudly. “I didn’t know you were into puzzles.”

Her head lifted and she eyed me over, frowning. “She’s not. I am and you’re interrupting.”
