Tossing a thumb toward Karoline, he narrows his eyes, staring at her while addressing me. “This bitch cornered me, sticking her tongue down my throat. She must have picked my pocket in the process. She disappeared as quickly as she showed interest. That’s when I went looking for her.”

Zanko holds his hand out to Karoline, bending his fingers in a gimme motion. She relents, dropping the keys into his palm.

“Whatever,” she says dismissively before flaunting off.

As Zanko moves into the room, he and I focus on each other.

“What the fuck, Z?”

He looks confused at my vitriol. Dismissing him, I turn toward Kassidy only to find the room empty.

“Fuck!”

My head falls back on my shoulders as I shout to the ceiling.

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

Oh! My! God!

My face blazes in embarrassment. I can’t believe that I was just in Brock’s room, grinding down on him, getting myself off. Getting us both off is more appropriate, given the large wet area at the crotch of Brock’s pants. It is bad enough that I pictured him while getting myself off last night. But what just happened is so unlike me.

Wasting no time, I rush down the stairs. Pushing through the throngs of people around the house, my feet don’t slow until I reach the front door of our apartment building.

Once ensconced inside the quiet solitude of my bedroom, my trembling fingers pull my phone from my pocket. My fingers move across the screen, somehow managing to get a text sent.

Me

At home

Kennedy

Are you alright?

Me

Not sure yet.

Physically, yes.

Not waiting around for Kennedy to reply, my tired ass heads to the shower, suddenly feeling dirty.

The hot water beating on my body does nothing to wash away my shame. Tears track down my face, running down the drain with the rest of the water. Sliding down until I am sitting in the bathtub, my legs are bent and my arms wrapped around my legs. Resting my forehead on top of my knees, time passes without my knowledge. The only indicator of how long it’s been is the cooling water.

Reaching out and shutting off the water, my body refuses to move. Resuming the same position, my thoughts replay the events of the evening, causing a fresh round of tears to fall.

“Kassidy…Kassidy!”

My voice being called, accompanied by a pounding on the door, has my head popping up. The sudden cracking of wood just before the banging of the door against the wall has me yelping out in alarm.

“Kassidy!” Kennedy’s frantic tone saying my name is the only warning she gives before the shower curtain is thrust to the side.

Yelping out in alarm and wrapping my arms around my legs, attempting to cover my body, has my pulse spiking. Looking up, Kennedy, Gareth, and Ashton all crowd into the room staring down at me. Kennedy’s entire body deflates at the sight of me.

“Thank God,” she sighs out.

“Right, we will let you girls talk,” Gareth states sheepishly, herding Ashton out with him.

It’s that moment that the cold air hits my wet body, causing me to shiver. Kennedy quickly grabs a towel, helping me to dry off. Wrapping a fresh towel around my shoulders, she disappears briefly into the other room, coming back with a pair of sweats and sweatshirt.
