My mother left my father and I when I was around five years old. She left behind a bitter man and a confused kid. The day he was served with divorce papers will live with me forever. He went nuts, smashing anything in the house he could get his hands on. When he caught sight of me, he had a new target. My entire torso ended up bruised.

Ever since then, he has warned me away from females. Beating it into my head that they are only good for sticking our pricks in and walking away when we are finished with them.

Shaking off the dark thoughts of my youth, still not understanding what happened with Kassidy, I head right up to my room. Slamming the door closed behind me, I fall face-first onto the bed, screaming into the mattress.

“Tutor session go that badly?”

Surprise has me flipping over, giving Zanko a dirty look, so lost in my own head I didn’t realize that he was here. Flopping back down onto the mattress, I have an internal debate on whether to open my mouth or not and how much to say.

“Fuck it,” I mutter to myself before speaking louder so he can hear me. “Do you know the four guys that work out with Gage Mitchell on occasion?” Keeping my tone neutral, hopefully, Zanko does read between the lines.

“I know of them, assuming it’s the same group of guys. It’s surprising that you don’t, with the scandal that went on last semester.”

Propping myself up on my elbows in order to look at him, my eyebrows draw together in confusion.

Zanko pinches the bridge of his nose when he sees the look on my face.

“Really? It was all over the local news, national news, andall over campus.”

“Fill me in, ’cause I have no clue what the fuck you are talking about, dude.”

At my annoyed tone, Zanko doesn’t hesitate, launching into what happened. By the time he is finished, I am even more confused than before.

“How does Kassidy Heartwell fit into all of this?”

He barks out a laugh. “She is best friends with Kennedy Ainsworth, now Worthington.”

“Shit!” Straightening my arms and flopping back onto the bed, my face scrunches in frustration.

“What the fuck did you do?” he says with a chuckle. His lips twitch, fighting back a smile.

“Earlier today, I ran across Kassidy sitting with a girl and four guys.” Speaking to the ceiling again, trying to get through my embarrassing story.

“Okay,” he says, drawing out the word. “So what?”

Trying to delay the inevitable, I pause, tipping my chin to my chest and looking down the bridge of my nose. Zanko sits up, putting his feet on the floor, with his elbows on his knees.

“Well, come on, I am waiting. Spit it the fuck out already. What the hell did you do?” he asks, grinning from ear to ear, way too excited about this conversation.

Letting out a groan and closing my eyes, my voice is a whisper. Hopefully, saying it soft enough keeps it from being a reality.

“Trying to make conversation and get to know Kassidy, I offered to walk her back to her dorm when our session was over. She said, ‘Welive in Olympus Towers,’” I pause, trying to stave off the inevitable. Zanko puts his face in his hands, his shoulders shaking. He must have guessed where this is going.

“Please tell me you didn’t open your mouth and put your foot in it.”

“Dude, it was not just my foot. It was my entire leg up to my knee.” I heave a sigh. It’s time to get this over with.“I asked her which one of those guys she was fucking.”

Silence fills the room. Looking over at Zanko, he is staring at me, open-mouthed, shock evident on his face. He starts to shake his head back and forth. “You didn’t,” he whispers.

“Yep. Actually, I asked if she was fucking all of them. She walked away from me after slapping me, and when I caught up to her, tears were streaking down her face.”

“Fuck,” he says, drawing out the word.

Letting out a humorless laugh. “That isn’t even the worst of it.”

“There’smore?” he asks loudly.

“Yeah, she called someone, who I guess was Kennedy, since from what I could tell, the voice was female. Two of the guys came and got Kassidy. The one looked like he was ready to kick my ass if I breathed wrong. Some pretty blond wrapped her up in his arms andtook her away,” my words are sharp at the end. Anger coming from out of nowhere.
